What does “Endangered” mean?<br />Endangered Animal: An animal at risk of becoming extinct because of human activity such as hunting or changes in climate. The United States Fish and Wildlife Services determines which animals are on the list. <br />
Familiar Animals from around the World <br />Some endangered animals can be found in zoos.<br />You would be very lucky to spot them in the wild.<br />
Polar Bears<br /><ul><li>Polar bears live in the Arctic.
They rely on packs of ice by currents of water.
Coastal storms threaten the safety of the eggs that are nested on the beach.
Sea turtles can get caught in fishing nets and hooks.</li></li></ul><li>Endangered Animals in Michigan<br />Michigan is home to some endangered animals.<br />The majority of Michigan’s endangered animals are insects, bats, and birds. <br />Remember to be careful of endangered animals that may live in your backyard!<br />
Indiana Bat<br /><ul><li>Indiana bats are very small, their wing span is 9 to 11 inches.
Kirtland’s Warbler population is in danger because of loss of habitat.
They also are in competition with other birds for nesting space.
