  • Welcome to Empowering Encouragement! In this 6 and half-minute presentation we are going to cover what coaching IS and IS NOT, what the process typically looks like, and how YOU can get the most out of our coaching partnership.
  • Coaching is “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential”. A key word here is “partnering.” As this quote suggests, coaching is a SYNERGISTIC process, Your coach will work with you to explore important issues and challenges in order to to achieve your desired outcome.
  • What are some benefits of coaching? Coaching helps people reach deeper levels of fulfillment and higher levels of success FASTER, more EASILY, and more ENJOYABLY, than they might on their own. Also, through collaboration with a coach, clients will learn skills that will help them address future challenges and transitions more confidently and successfully.“Again, the emphasis here is on working together. Your coach will support you in a constructive, compassionate way to achieve more than you might on your own.”
  • What are some typical coaching topics?: Dealing with Transition,Unemployment, Business problems, Stress and anxiety,Lack of enthusiasm for life, Relationship/family dynamics, finding your authentic vocation, or Negative habits or self-defeating behaviors. “These are some examples of areas where clients might seek coaching help. Many times people just want to feel more alive, live their life more purposefully or healthfully, “reinvent” themselves. The important thing is to find a coach that you feel comfortable with to walk with you on YOUR particular path”.
  • A coaching relationship is different in its focus from some other types of helping professions. Coaching does not conflict with, or take the place of these other professions. In fact, many times they are complimentary. For example, a consultant provides industry-area expertise and is hired to solve problems FOR a client. Your coach will help develop YOU to solve a problem or achieve a goal . We are trained in coaching skills to support clients to obtain results. . A therapist focuses on healing a person with a psychological problem, typically drawing from the past to help the client understand their behavior. Your coach works with competent individuals, beginning in the present, and focusing on the clients strengths to propel them forward.
  • What does the coaching process look like? First and foremost, you have to find the right coach, many times through referrals by word of mouth. Because trust and openness are necessary elements for a successful coaching experience, perhaps the most important criterion in hiring a coach is rapport and “chemistry”Your coach should have one objective: Wanting you to succeed.
  • There are as many models as there are coaches. But generally, the coach starts the relationship with an intake session to get acquainted quickly, accelerate the relationship, and set the intention and direction of the coaching.Typically, coach and client meet by phone, one-on-one, 2-4 times per month for up to an hour.Group coaching is also a popular, in which a coach works with more than one person simultaneously in a group setting.Choose a package that works for you. According to an International Coach Federation survey, the duration of a coaching relationship averages around 9 months. Some clients hire a coach to help them accomplish specific goals while others are looking to identify goals. I offer several packages to meet the needs of many clients.
  • Different clients appreciate different amounts of tools and structure. No two clients get the same approach - because no two clients have exactly the same backgrounds, feelings or goals. Most get a lot of benefit from going through personal development tools, but coaching is about you. As your coach, I am very flexible in adapting the structure and tools used to meet your needs.
  • These next few slides will help you get the most out of your coaching experience! Primarily, you will want to do some mental preparation. You will want to ask yourself “Am I ready to be coached?” Are you ready to --- Get to know yourself anew! Discover what you really want in life and work! Identify what you tolerate and what zaps your energy! If you are ready, these are the areas we can work on together to unleash your potential!
  • To get the most from coaching, come to the call or meeting prepared. This is about you: YOU establish the agenda. Think about your recent successes and accomplishments. What are your current challenges? Then, get ready to explore possibilities, options and next steps with your coach.
  • Some final tips for getting the most from your coaching: Relax and enjoy the call! Be open, honest and authentic. Allow yourself to be challenged. Be willing to experiment! And most importantly, keep yourself healthy! Most of all, enjoy spending time with someone who cares deeply about your success! I look forward to being YOUR coach andhelping you design and implement a fulfilling life!
