Fortino, who took these 'masculine' photos, was demonstrating that design patterns are not actual design. Juxtaposing images of Chicago, IL and the ancient Tuscan city of San Gimignano seemed a perfect way to illustrate this. Of course, now that you have pointed out the phallic symbolism in the first set of her photos, I cannot help but see chastity belts in the second set :) 7 months ago

  • cwodtke Christina Wodtke at Consulting, Investing, Advising, Talking, Teaching Maybe I'm just a Venturian, and second caveat- I didn't see this talk-- but I'm a little tired of all the masculine images of sexy women, fast cars, iphones and phallic buildings. Sigh. I'm going to pretend the slides around 40-45 you were mocking those classic images of beauty. Clearly it got funnier around slide 60. :) 7 months ago
