  3. 3. Key Activities• Consolidation and repositioning of ReSAKSS• Operationaization at the country level of the CAADP M&E framework• Establishment of Country SAKSS Nodes• Transition to a COMESA based platform in year 4&5

Major Objectives Conduct research on key areas/issues (ATOR feature topics)  2011: agricultural productivity; completed with IFPRI HarvestChoice; report underway  2012: agricultural investments; collaboration with ASTI on AgR&D; starting  2013: agricultural trade  2014: poverty and safety nets
  5. 5. …Major Objectives Strengthen existing country SAKSS nodes and establish new ones. Depends on a country’s:  state in the CAADP process  readiness in “setting” up a SAKSS  capacity needs for strategic analysis, M&E and knowledge management
  6. 6. Agricultural Productivity Study Key question: how to raise and maintain high agricultural productivity across different parts of the continent?  fundamental and conceptual issues on the definition and measurement of agricultural productivity (temporal and spatial analysis)
  7. 7. Agricultural Productivity Study more sophisticated analysis on understanding the determinants and drivers of agricultural productivity seemingly-easy, but methodological-challenging case analysis of successful and failed implementation of several agricultural productivity programs

Country SAKSS Activities The SAKSS concept is now an accepted CAADP franchise, which is articulated in the CAADP Compact and Brochure 5 Strategic Analyses and Knowledge Support Systems to inform and guide the CAADP implementation process This is expected to come into existence following the signing of the CAADP country compact and as part of the implementation of the country’s agricultural sector investment plan
