    • Presented by
    • The Kuriakose Elias College
    • Department of Psychology
    • In association with
    • Alumni Association
  • 4.
    • A unique opportunity for those who are interested in watching Films with a scientific temper and better understanding of HUMAN MIND
    • To interact with Film directors, makers, critics, academicians and psychologists
    • To come together with a wide audience for the enhancement of knowledge and sharpening of perspectives
  • 5. Based on the preliminary discussion, these are my Suggestions …for further discussions…
    • The programme have to be presented as predominantly academic
    • Target population: psychology and non-psychology students, teachers and (? interested public)
    • This year we could go with a THEME:
    • Suggested focus: on Mental Disorders
  • 6.
    • Duration: 2 full days or 3 half days (including Saturday and Sunday)
    • Consisting of film screenings
    • Followed by discussions
    • Panel presentations on various aspects of screened cinema and depicted psychological disorder
  • 7.
    • Plenty of opportunity for the audience to participate in discussions
    • Lectures and panels will be generously illustrated with audio-visual presentations including clips
  • 8.
    • All together we could screen one or two movies plus one or two documentaries per day
    • All screenings will be followed by discussions
    • Ticket rates are to be fixed
    • Separate rates for each screening and for the whole programme shall be worked out
  • 9.
    • This has been a unique initiative, and the first of its kind in India (perhaps in Asia)
    • Invitation brochure should be dispatched to all like-minded institutes.
  • 10.
    • Suggested format for screening and discussion:
      • Introduction to the screening movie/ documentary by the Chair
      • Screening
      • Initiation of audience responses and their understanding by the Chair
      • Expert panel presentations and discussion
  • 11.
    • For panel presentation
      • Clippings, audio-visual aids etc. have to be used to illustrate the topic
      • Questionnaires could be distributed
      • Comments and suggestions will be collected
  • 12.
    • It is possible to continue this initiative…
    • Each year we could focus on certain themes…
    • For example Mental Disorders this year…
    • Problems of old age, adolescent issues, sexuality, violence, influence of movies ect. could be taken as Themes, in the coming years…
  • 13.
    • Since our time is limited it may not be possible to cover the entire concepts of mental disorders in a couple of days…
    • Therefore better to focus on certain disorders and issues like phenomenology, stigma about mental disorders, treatment, recognition etc.
  • 14.
    • We could select appropriate movies/ documentaries either in English or Malayalam
    • Consent for screening, legal implications of public screening etc. are to be enquired
    • Procedures for registration as a psycho-film society is to be initiated, if that kind of an arrangement is beneficial
  • 15.
    • Have to prepare an Expert panel list
    • Panel shall include an expert/ film critique, film director, psychologist, psychiatrist/ clinical psychologist
    • Each panel should have a chair who initiates and moderate the discussion
  • 16.
    • Finance generation and management have to be discussed
    • Projecting technique is yet to be finalized
    • High quality LCD may be adequate
    • Preferred venue is the college auditorium or appropriate place at Kottayam
  • 17.
    • Availability of prints, editing of clips etc. could be accomplished only through team work
    • Welcome volunteering to programme committee
  • 18. Together we could make this AN EVENT
