  • 1. Humboldt Squids By Paul Ibuzor
  • 2. Introduction
    • The Humboldt Squid (or Jumbo Squid) is an animal that is being overfished. They live in Baja California and they belong to a group of animals called cephalopods.
  • 3. Features
    • The Jumbo Squid lives only one year. They swim in deep waters, usually with low oxygen levels.
    • Humboldt Squids have huge eyes and a razor-sharp beak. They can also change color.
  • 4. Predators
    • Jumbo Squid’s preditors are sharks, seals, swordfish, sperm whales, and marlins. They live in deep waters where the oxygen level is low. So the predators must leave eventually.
  • 5. Prey
    • Jumbo Squids are predators to lanternfish, shrimp, mollusks, and other cephalopods. They are known to attack other Jumbo Squids that are caught in fishing nets.
  • 6. Help!!!
    • Due to the fact that the Humboldt Squid has expanded its range, people keep fishing to get more and more and more when there are less and less and less of them. They can be helped by limiting fishing.
