Presentation on Mobile/Tablet Design Project 4 Instructor: Theresa Weber by: Gabriel Posternak
How much mobile and tablet usage has grown and estimated future usage. • More and more people are gaining access to “smart phones.” These phones can check e-mail, check facebook, use applications. • Although there are huge numbers of people using the internet, there are even more people using mobile phones and smart phones.
The Numbers• In 2011 there are an estimated of 2,095,000,000+ people who have access to the internet• In 2009 there were an estimated of 4,1000,000,000+ people who had access to a mobile phone.• 1.08 Billion of these people own Smart Phones and 3.05 billion are SMS enabled.
• Mobile and tablet usage has impacted web design big time;• Developers have to learn more languages and frameworks to work on building site’s, applications and everything more user friendly.• Prioritized Content• Vertical Navigation / Faster Load Time
What current technologies can be used tomake websites accessible on all devices? • HTML 5 • HTML • Jquery • JavaScrip • CSS/CSS3 • Integrated audio, video and photo input.
Another Good Example:http://www.newegg.com/mobile?name=Mobile-Appshttp://www.newegg.com/mobile?name=Mobile-Apps
How Can We Do this?• Redesign the Website!• Prioritize Content• Work on a better framework.• Work on setting up mobile re-direct landing page with mobile development.• Logo and search bar on top• Vertical Navigation• Give the user what they need and nothing more.
