      • The foremost effect is the destruction of the ozone layer
      • Gamma rays coming out of supernovae are responsible for the ozone layer destruction

      • The brightest star Betelgeuse is already nearing its end and is doomed to explode soon as a supernova.
      • The supernova should be seen easily from earth, even in broad daylight
