Research, Planning, Development and Distribution – Technologies involved
Media A2 – Group089 – Evaluation Question 4
Research
We used a number of websites to help gather information we needed to complete the filming and researching process.
The websites we used the most were…
www.business.pearlanddean.com
www.facebook.com
www.bfi.org.uk
From the websites we used we were able to find out important information we needed like what the target audience our film would attract and what type of person the film would appeal to. We then had a clear idea of the audience we would attract. After finding out this information we were able to gain a insight into what our target audience would want to see on our film through this vital research.
Planning
Planning played a vital part in the whole process of our film with the aid of new media technologies to enhance our planning stage.
PowerPoint allowed us create slides and to show people (and the examiner) how we are going to produce and distribute our film to the general public
Planning
Planning the teaser trailer was very important part of the process. Planning our piece included the whereabouts of the filming, what we would be filming and what props we needed etc. Final Cut express allowed us to enhance our planning stage as we created a storyboard using still images which was a basic first draft of how our film would plan out.
Planning
Using Mahara
Mahara is an open source ePortfolio and social networking web application created by the government of New Zealand. It provides users with tools to create and maintain a digital portfolio of their learning, social networking features to allow users to interact witth each other. Mahara provides users with blogs which we used in our filming process to log thoughts and ideas which would help us in the future. Mahara especially helped in the planning process as I gave us a good visual log in which we could view whenever we had access to the internet.
Development
In our development stage we used a number of different types of editing software in order to create, edit and finalise our product.
Final Cut Express was the most important piece of technology we used as this allowed us to place our shots into order and place the soundtrack and visual effects all into place efficently.
Adobe illustrator
Adobe illustrator was the program we used to create the film poster and the magazine cover.
The program was very useful and was relatively easy to use
We had a step by step guide which made it easier to save correctly
Distribution
We used facebook to distribute our product as this is an easy way to target the millions of users of facebook.
We used youtube to get the video live and online
Once the video was on youtube it could freely pass through the cyber world through word of mouth and advertising.
