    Pong – First major game in arcades
    Pong made the first consoles popular when they became available at home
    Before home consoles people had to go to the arcade at certain times.
    They had to pay for each game
    So people were restricted as to when, where and how they consumed in terms of video games
  • 3. Early consoles

    Odyssey 100
    Odyssey 200
    They used cartridges and were available to play at home
    This meant that audiences could consume games pretty much whenever they wanted to
    Mega drive gave a better home gaming experience with more advanced games
  • 4. 90’s consoles
    Sony Playstation
    Nintendo N64
    Where part of the 5th generation of game consoles
    The first consoles to make gaming very popular
    The Playstation used CDs to store game data.
    Had 3D environments within the game
  • 5. 6th Gen consoles
    Sony Playstion 2
    Microsoft Xbox –HALO
    Nintendo Gamecube

    Current 7th Gen consoles such as Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii are the most advanced.
    All three have motion sensor capabilities and are still developing new features
    What will come in the future?
    Will gaming take on a new meaning in terms of how games are played?
    And what other technologies will be combined with video games to further enhance the world’s experience of this activity?
  • 15. Motion Capturing is becoming more and more popular, with the Wii, Kinect and PlaystationMove; its market is set to grow.
    The Geeks are working on a way of incorporating smells into videogames; such as burnt gunpowder and freshly cut grass. They have a prototype.
