  • 1. How do animals meet their needs?
  • 2. Cats and dogs are pets.
    People give pets food, water and shelter.
  • 3. Lions are an example of a wild animal.
  • 4. Which animals in the picture are pets and which are wild animals?
  • 5. Wild animals must find their own food, water and shelter.
  • 6. 1) Animals need Food
  • 7. Pandas are wild animals.
    Pandas eat bamboo leaves.
  • 8. Some animals have special body part to get food. Example:
    A giraffe has a long neck to reach leaves on tall trees.
  • 9. An elephant has a trunk to pull leave and put it in its mouth.
  • 10. 2) Animals need Oxygen
  • 11. In the morning ------- Plants give out oxygen.
    During the night ------- Plants take in oxygen.
  • 12. Hippos and whales rise above water to get air (they use lungs).
  • 13. Fish get oxygen from the water through their gills.
  • 14. Insects get oxygen through tiny holes in their body.
  • 15. 3) Animals need water
  • 16. Water leaves the body in the form of:
    Breath
    Sweat
    Urine
  • 17. How is this water replaced?
    Some animals drink water.
    Some animals get water from foods they eat.
  • 18. 4) Animals need Shelter
  • 19. Elf owl finds shelter in a saguaro cactus.
