Modern Hot Air Balloons
Heated by a small propane heater mounted below a small opening to the balloon
As the air heats up, it becomes lighter than the air outside the balloon, causing the hot air balloon to rise up in the air.
Direction cannot be controlled in a hot air balloon
You can change altitude by releasing hot air or changing the strength of the flame.

Sizes
A hot air balloon can be many sizes
Small cloud hoppers are for only one passenger and may have less than 30,000 cubic feet
Some big hot air balloons are intended for groups of over ten people and may have over 500,000 cubic feet of air space within.
An average hot air balloon is meant to hold two or three passengers and a pilot and has around 100,000 cubic feet of space inside the balloon.
