  • I agree with Thom King below. Having watched, as a coach, ad and marketing agenices waste time, money and labor in order to keep and make ALL of their creative and support people happy I'm not sure that this concept is completely realistic. I agree w/ the context and purpose and most of its elements but you need role players, support personnel and others who mainly rely on their leaders for direction., etc. Can't have everyone be a leader or you have a whole bunch of A-types competing with each other.

  • Great insight into what its potentially like working at NF! But I can’t help but wonder if this model can be employed just anywhere, or does it require a corporation as highly influential in pop culture as NF to get these A-level types interested in the first place? Also if everyone in the company is a highly motivated go-getter, I can’t imagine anyone one would be content with a midlevel position. Would Lebron appreciate 15mins of court time because the Cavs roster was too stacked to allow his usual 40mins (salary cap aside)...?

  • @Natalie Delport I believe that what they are saying is that the kind of people that stay at Netflix are not the sustained-B-level types. They are A-level types, and they don't care as much about the warm and fuzzies. They like challenge, they like change, they like to be rewarded for kicking ass. They wouldn't be happy with a severance package under any circumstance.

  • @Natalie Delport I'm not a member of HR, but I believe that point in slide 38 means that the Netflix employee who loves the Netflix culture would be disappointed to lose her job with the company, but would still experience warmth for them after being let go as opposed to being "bitter." In turn, Netflix would experience warmth for the employee even though the company had to let her go because she was only performing at a B level.
