    • Balanced Nutrition Coming to Fruition www.funFruit.com1987 Street Ave City, State 60623, US. 1. Lack Of Energy Balance • Energy IN and Energy OUT must balance / equal over time or else will result in overweight and obesity due to too much calories intake. What is Energy IN and Energy OUT?? • Energy IN = amount of energy / calories we get from food and drinks • Energy OUT = amount of energy our body use for physical activities

Not Physically Active • Spend too many hours in front of TV and computers • Relying on cars instead of walking • Fewer physical demands at work or at home because of modern technology and convenience • Lack of physical education classes in schools • People who are inactive are more likely to gain weight because they don’t burn the calories taken from food and drinks

Unhealthy Lifestyle Environment • Lack of neighbourhood sidewalks and safe places for recreation (e.g. playground, park) • No affordable gym in an area • Work schedules / long work hours – The reason why working adults spend less time to be physically active, even during weekends

Over – sized Food Portions • Usually in fast food places, self service buffet restaurants and even at home • Taking meals or snacks which can feed two or more people • Eating large portions means TOO MUCH ENERGY IN. 5. Genes and Family History • Have strong influence on a person’s weight • Overweight and obesity tend to run in families • Your chances of being overweight are greater if one or both of your parents are obese • Your genes also may affect the amount of fat you store in your body and where on your body you carry the extra fat • Families also share food and physical activity habits, a link exists between genes and the environment

Children Adopt The Habits of Their Parents • Parents eat unhealthy food and are inactive, overweight = children will likely become overweight 8. Certain Medicines Can Cause Weight Gain • Example : corticosteroids, antidepressants and seizure medicines • These medicines slow the rate at which your body burns calories and increase your appetite
