Slide 1: Fashion Presenting you with the fashion trends from the Forties to the present.

Slide 2: 1940’s • After WWII there was an enormous moral and liberated fashion change • Ready-to-wear clothing was a new trend that was presented to be elegant and towards the Vicky regime, which comfortable for modern promoted the model wife and women to dress mother. Also, a robust, athletic young women figure was promoted • Production of original and imaginative sportswear

Slide 3: 1950’s  Chemise dress (1957)  Fashion in the 50’s bore strong reminisces of the past. Despite the fact that women had the right to vote, to work, and to drive their own cars, they  Silk blouses in colors that matched chose to wear dresses made of the suit linings, sleek tweeds and extravagant materials, with corseted monogrammed buttons waists and swirling skirts that cut at mid- calf (1920-1930)

Slide 4: 1  Between 1960 and 1969 there was a radical shake-up that rushed through fashion trends. For perhaps the first time in history, there was an 9 independent youth fashion that was not based on the conventions of an older age group. Simply, the 60’s was 6 a time of personal freedom.  Later in the decade there was the hippie and 0’ psychedelic movements which included the bell- bottom jeans, tie-dye and batik fabrics, as well as paisley prints s  The birth of the mini- skirt (1965)

Slide 5: 1970’s  During the 70’s there were different perspectives of the new fashion trends. There was a major love or hate reaction where some saw the new era as an END to good taste and others saw it as the beginning of something spectacular.  Jeans remained frayed, tie dye was still popular, and the fashion for unisex bloomed.  A radical chic emerged in everything from afro hairstyles to platform soles. Hems began dropping in 1974 to below the knee, until finally reaching the lower mid calf in 1977 and shoulder lines were dropped.

Slide 6: 1980’s  During the 80’s fashion began to criss- cross international boundaries rapidly. Western styles were adopted all over the world, and many designers from outside of the West had quite an impact on fashion.  Synthetic materials such as Lycra, Spandex, and viscose all became widely-used  Designs combined Hollywood retro and futurism, with rounded hips, sharply accentuated shoulders, and a slight taste of galactic space.  Imposing, broad-shouldered designs, often made of leather, flounced skirts, embroidered corselets, bustles, and polka- dotted crinolines

Slide 7: 1990’s  There was a major turn-a- round during the 90’s. It was no longer the trend to follow up with the most popular fashion items. Instead, the phobia of being underdressed was finally completely displaced by the fear of overdressing.  A few designers tired to keep the flag for pretty dresses flying, but by the end of the decade the notion of ostentatious finery had disappeared  Hip hop had a huge influence on the era. The influence included baggy pants, big patterned shirts and heavy black shoes.

Slide 8:  The 00’ looked back deep into the past for inspiration and resurface with a new vintage look of a mixture of trends from the Sixties, Seventies, and the 2000  Name brands became of particular importance, mostly among young peopl and many celebrities launched there ow lines of clothing Eighties. • Early 00s: tighter fitting cloths and long hair  The COME BACK of the more feminine look… the… dress  Mid 00s: figure-hugging look was disbanded. Flowy, tunic shapes were back in and bright colours also came back.
