Recruiters and headhunters

  1. 1. Recruiters • All recruiters are not headhunters Headhunters All headhunters are recruiters • Recruiters work for all domain Headhunters work only for specific domain • They depend on job boards & Social sites They have own headhunted database • Lack convincing skills Excellent convincing skills • Work for all position Work to fill position of talent and rare profiles • Sometimes fail to fill the position Never fail • Lack of complicated technical skills Excellent in technical skills • Never go for field job • Lack of market research Ready for face-face discussion with candidates in public/personal places Excellent in market research • No relationship with the candidates Better relationship with the candidates • Look for active, passive candidates Look only for passive candidates • Less knowledge of competitors Active knowledge of competitors • Team work Individual contributors • Less knowledge on Business economy More knowledge on business economy • Positive and negative attitude Only passive attitude • Initially, may or may not talk to candidates They always communicate to candidates • Little or more experience in this field More experience in this field • Never build their identity Brand their identity • Same methodology applies to all Unique way of approach, depending on attitude of candidates Targeted candidates • Almost fail to approach right candidates Note - A headhunter is a general term that applies to all recruiters. It all depends how they attract and place their candidates. Headhunting in recruitment is all about researching, convincing, and placing the candidates. Even a recruiter can head hunt the candidates without much experience and that doesn’t mean that he is a perfect headhunter. It is only the term “head hunting”. Even recruiters do headhunting and recognized themselves as recruiters. The above difference is just the way of approaching and attracting candidates. So, it is better to use the term “head hunting” instead of “head hunters”.
