Unlike cooking Italian food which is far more formal and expensive, soul food cooking is considered to be the cheapest and the fastest way to prepare food. Today, many foods are prepared in such a way; that is why, it is helpful to learn more about these types of food to know how good they can or cannot be for our bodies.

At that time, poverty was widespread over the country that people had to find means to alleviate their condition. Through the soul food, thousands of people were lifted from poverty and were saved from malnutrition. Today, they are still commonly eaten because of their cheap costs and the fast food preparation process that immediately attends to the basic needs of the people.

They make use of vegetables, meat, bread, and other food items that can be easily spotted. Most of these foods are deep fried when served since the frying method is the quickest type of food preparation.

This is because many reports have shown a major rise in heart diseases and in diabetes because of such kind of food preparation. True enough, soul food are rich in cholesterol and fats that contribute to the occurrence of many diseases. However, if they are prepared using healthy oil, the risks of heart incidence can be lowered. The ingredients matter much in telling if the food is healthy to eat or not.
