2. The close up shot of the character is light one side and
dark on the other, this could connote the characters
emotional portrayal in the scene. The shot type is quite
up close and personal making us as an audience feel the
sadness of the character.
3. This over the shoulder shot makes us feel like we are
listening in on their conversation. The lighting in this
scene contrasts to the rest of the film because it is
lighter and more natural. This could be significant to
the narrative.
4. Wide shot – this wide shot then zooms in at a low angle to
the characters. The wide shot allows us to see the setting
and the characters positions. These positions are
important to get across the characters emotion/feelings to
the audience.
5. This low angle gives us a sense of authority because we
are looking down upon the character. This may be to
show the characters age and how he is sleeping. The
colour of this shot has many connotations such as
blood, horror, anger and love. It allows links to the
narrative as the colour significantly shows a specific
emotion on how the character is feeling.
6. Opposite to the low angle, this high angle shot gives us
a sense like we are spying upon the character in this
scene. From this shot again natural lighting is used to
create a realistic scene and show that it is set in the day
time unlike the rest of the film.
7. This eye line match allows us to be in the position of
the character and see from their point of view. Because
it is at a lower angle we feel as an audience that we are
pupil in the class. The setting in a classroom sets a
realistic narrative and the daylight is used to portray
happier emotions in the scene.
8. An extreme close up of the tape player makes us pay
attention to what the character is doing. This also
emphasises the narrative at this point and makes the
audience focus on the actions played by the character.
The use of a tape player isn't an average everyday item
so by using it as a prop the audience can question why
and the significance of it.
9. This mid shot of the three characters shows their
positions within the scene. The costume is dark and
formal suggesting that the mood is saddened. The
setting in a small neighbourhood suggests that
everyone knows each other and they are friendly, this
is why the characters are seen helping each other.
10. On this close up shot of the character the shadows on
his face show his expression, showing that he looks
scared as an audience we feel the same because the
light emphasises his facial expressions. Also the shot
isn't of a natural speaking distance making us feel
uncomfortable in the scene.
