    • Microsoft and Facebook still occupying the top two positions with similar activity levels to February 2011.
    • 3. Significant increase in releases mentioning Apple (48 per cent increase) mainly due to iPad2 tie in releases.
    • 4. Googlehighest riser (up six positions to 5th) in Top 10 with 50 per cent more mentions in March 2011 compared to February 2011, bringing mentions back in line with January 2011 levels.
    • 5. Nintendo a new entry (17th) due to tie in releases relating to launch of 3DS.
    • 6. Nokia and ZTE fall out of Top 25 post Mobile World Congress.

    • Releases mentioning “cloud” technologies and “websites” still the most popular with increases in activity levels in both.
    • 8. Releases mentioning “cloud” were back to 3.0x more popular than those mentioning “social media”, the same level as in January 2011.
    • 9. iPad up to 5th with 92 per cent more activity reflecting iPad2 tie in releases. iPad now the highest ranked product ahead of iPhone which had similar levels of mentions to February 2011.
    • 10. Large number of releases relating to CTIA Wireless (22nd) held in March.
    • 11. New entry for Nintendo DS (45th) due to 3DS launch tie in releases.

    • 14. Brands must be mentioned in the first 20 terms used in the releases (excluding common words such as “a”, “the” etc) and must also appear more than once in the release.
    • 15. Brands can be mentioned in either their own releases or other companies’ releases.
    • 16. Where the number of mentions is the same their average prominence i.e. how near the start of the press release, is used as a tie breaker.
