The causes of droughts 173 billion cubic metres fall by rain in France 34 billion of them are used for safe water production, industry, irrigation and cooling of power stations Change of the rainfall frequencies But most of the time, drought is due to very high temperatures which occur by chance.
Rhône-Alpes The consequences
Rhône Alpes : a great corn producer using an irrigation system. Because of the drought : Corn production in Rhône Alpes was reduced by 100,000 hectares in four years (2003-2006), which represents 13%.

Forest fire because of drying of the trees The year 2003 was a very bad year for tree growth Some trees lose their leaves voluntarily The others burn in forest fire
