  2. 2. Welcome! BookPALS provides an opportunity for students from Concord to mentor and read aloud to Boston students at the Condon Elementary School. Three Trainings Three Visits
  3. 3. Trainings Three Trainings October 20 November 3 December 15 Approx. 1 hour Topics include leadership, mentoring, reading aloud, and more Your commitment to these trainings is very important! Even if you’ve trained before, your presence is necessary as a leader!
  4. 4. Visits Three Visits November 17 January 19 March 9 Approx. 2.5 hours Meet your buddies, read, and mentor Attending all three visits is essential for the program’s success Your buddy will expect you at each visit!
  5. 5. Letters Three letters per buddy Due approx. 1 week after our first two visits and likely 1 week prior to our last visit Briefly recap your meeting with your buddy Talk about reading Mention next visit You will also receive letters!
  6. 6. Community Service CCHS students will receive 15 hours of community service for participating in all visits, trainings, and letters
  7. 7. Your Role as a Mentor These students will look up to you! Conduct yourself in a mature and professional manner Respect differences Promote reading!
  8. 8. Next Steps Make sure you’ve signed in We need an ACCURATE email address for communication Have your permission slip signed by your parents/guardians Bring it to our next training session! You cannot travel to Boston without it!
