  11. 11. God’s Light in Elemental Form – A Covenant To have a relationship with God man must exalt God, must honor the created image of God, and must rely on the provisions of God. Exodus 20:1-17
  12. 12. The Covenant: Ex. 20:2-11We Must Exalt God• “I Am the LORD your God… You shall have no other gods before me.”• “You shall not make for yourself and idol. You shall not bow down to them or worship them…”• “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.”• “Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy.”
  13. 13. The Covenant: Ex. 20:12-15We Must Honor His Created Image• “Honor your father and mother…”• “You shall not murder.”• “You shall not commit adultery.”1 John 4:20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates hisbrother, he is a liar; for he who does not love hisbrother whom he has seen cannot love God whomhe has not seen.
  14. 14. The Covenant: Ex. 20:16-17We Must Rely on His Provisions• “You shall not steal.”• “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.”• “You shall not covet… anything that belongs to your brother.”
  15. 15. The ProblemRomans 3:23 …for all have sinned and fall short of theglory of God…James 2:10For whoever keeps the whole law but failsin one point has become accountable for all of it.[11] For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” alsosaid, “Do not murder.” If you do not commitadultery but do murder, you have become atransgressor of the law.

All have Entered Darkness = Death1 John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with him whilewe walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice thetruth1 John 2:9 Whoever says he is in the light and hates hisbrother is still in darkness. [10] Whoever loves hisbrother abides in the light, and in him there is nocause for stumbling. [11] But whoever hates hisbrother is in the darkness and walks in thedarkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
  17. 17. But God Gave us More2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine outof darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give thelight of the knowledge of the glory of God in theface of Jesus Christ.
  18. 18. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and theWord was with God, and the Word was God. [2] Hewas in the beginning with God. [3] All things weremade through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. [4] In Him was life, andthe life was the light of men. [5] The light shines inthe darkness, and the darkness hasnot overcome it.
  19. 19. John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am thelight of the world. Whoever follows me will notwalk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light ofthe world.”
  20. 20. John 12:34 Who is this Son of Man?” [35] So Jesus saidto them, “The light is among you for a little whilelonger. Walk while you have the light, lest darknessovertake you. The one who walks in the darknessdoes not know where he is going. [36] While youhave the light, believe in the light, that you maybecome sons of light.”
  21. 21. Acts 26:15‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.[16] But rise and stand upon your feet, for I haveappeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you asa servant and witness to the things in which youhave seen me and to those in which I will appear toyou, [17] delivering you from your people and fromthe Gentiles—to whom I am sending you [18] toopen their eyes, so that they may turn fromdarkness to light and from the power of Satan toGod, that they may receive forgiveness of sins anda place among those who are sanctifiedby faith in me.’
