"And God Said... Let There Be" "And God Said... Let There Be" Presentation Transcript

    • “And God Said - Let There Be...”Who is God?What Does Creation Reveal About God?How Should We Relate to Him?How Does our Response to God Shape our Lives?
    • Hebrews 11:1-3, 6 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. [2] For by it the people of old received their commendation. [3] By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible…And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who seek Him.
    • God Is…Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God …”He Exists and ExistedHe Existed Before a BeginningHe is DeityHe is Distinct and UniqueJob 38:4-6 “Where were you when I laid thefoundation of the earth? Tell me, if you haveunderstanding. Who determined itsmeasurements—surely you know! Or whostretched the line upon it? On what were itsbases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone
    • God Is…If God Doesn’t Exist – then every man is agod unto himself for man is the apex ofevolutionary chaos. If God Exists – then we are not alone, arefinite compared to Him and are subject toHim.
    • God Spoke…Genesis 1:1 In the beginning, God createdthe heavens and the earth. The earth waswithout form and void, and darkness wasover the face of the deep. And the Spirit ofGod was hovering over the face of thewaters. And God said, “Let there be light,”and there was light. His Word is PowerfulHis Word Revealed His CharacterHis Word Brought Him Honor
    • God Spoke…Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD theheavens were made, and by the breath of Hismouth all their host.Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand thatthe universe was created by the word ofGod, so that what is seen was not made outof things that are visible.2 Peter 3:5 …For they deliberately overlookthis fact, that the heavens existed long ago,and the earth was formed out of water andthrough water by the word of God…
    • God Spoke…If God didn’t Speak – then we are part of acosmic cat and mouse game. Righteousnessand wisdom are subjective and relative.Moral confusion is expected and necessary.Social order is achieved by government. If God Spoke – then we are bound andjudged by it. God is personal andintentional. His message is to be heard andunderstood. Ignorance is foolish. To avoidHis word is insurrection and insubordination.
    • God Created…Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there belight,” and there was light. *4+ And God sawthat the light was good. And God separatedthe light from the darkness. [5] God calledthe light Day, and the darkness he calledNight. And there was evening and there wasmorning, the first day.He WorkedHe Made
    • God Created…Jeremiah 10:12 It is He who made the earthby his power, who established the world byHis wisdom, and by His understandingstretched out the heavens. [13] When Heutters his voice, there is a tumult of waters inthe heavens, and He makes the mist risefrom the ends of the earth. He makeslightning for the rain, and He brings forth thewind from His storehouses.Proverbs 3:19 The LORD by wisdom foundedthe earth; by understanding he establishedthe heavens;
    • God Created…The Verb To Create Meant:Newness – something that didn’t exist beforeEffortlessness – spoke with powerInstantaneous – no delayDivine Action – God above all others
    • God Created…Three more words of the CreationMade (‘asah) – Construction and action on aplan of purposeSeparated (badhal) – Separation of Lightfrom darkness and the gases from solids andliquids.Placed (nathan) – Planned and orchestratedaction of God to position all the pieces of theuniverse.
    • Natural Selection the process by which forms of life having traits that better enable them to adapt to specific environmental pressures, such as predators, changes in climate, or competition for food or mates, will tend to survive and reproduce in greater numbers than others of their kind, thus ensuring the perpetuation of those favorable traits in succeeding generations.
    • The Problem with Natural Selection –Dan Story “Natural selection within created gene pools accounts for every change seen in every kind of animal on earth, extinct or modern. All the illustrations given by evolutionists to prove evolution are in reality no more than adaptations within specific gene pools. Science has never seen in nature or observed in a laboratory one species of animal evolve into another.” Story, D. (1997). Defending your faith (141). Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications.
    • Entropy a: the degradation of the matter and energy in the universe to an ultimate state of inert uniformity b: a process of degradation or running down or a trend to disorder
    • The Problem of Entropy –Henry Morris “If science is to be based on fact and evidence, rather than metaphysical speculations, then entropy does not explain or support evolution at all. In fact, at least until someone can demonstrate some kind of naturalistic comprehensive biochemical predestinating code and a pre-existing array of energy storage-and-conversion mechanisms controlled by that code to generate increased organized complexity in nature, the entropy law seems to preclude evolution altogether.” www.icr.org/article/does-entropy-contradict-evolution/
    • The Problem of Entropy – Ironically, the radiometric systems that scientists use to date the earth are based on the decay and disintegration of radioactive elements. So in one moment evolutionary scientists use decay to measure age, and the next moment they promote increasing complexity and entropy to explain the origin of life.
    • Genetic Mutations A change in hereditary characteristic due to a permanent change in a gene. A chemical change in the genes of a cell which cause it to have a different function. Sudden change in the chromosomal DNA of an individual gene. It may produce inherited changes in descendants.
    • The Problem with Mutations –Ashby Camp “The odds of a single cell possessing non- harmful mutations of five specific (functionally related) genes is the product of their separate probabilities. In other words, the probability is 1 in 108 X 108 X 108 X 108 X 108, or 1 in 1040. If one hundred trillion (1014) bacteria were produced every second for five billion years (1017seconds), the resulting population (1031) would be only 1/1,000,000,000 of what was needed!” http://carm.org/secular-movements/evolution/problem-genetic-improbability - from the Myth of Natural Origins; How Science Points to Divine Creation – 1994, pp. 53-57
    • The Problem with Mutations –Sir Fred Hoyle “The chance that higher life forms might have emerged in this way is comparable with the chance that a tornado sweeping through a junkyard might assemble a Boeing 747 from the materials therein.” Sir Fred Hoyle, “Hoyle on Evolution,” Nature, 294 (November 1981), 105, quoted in Luther D. Sunderland, Darwin’s Enigma; Fossils and Other Problems (Santee, CA: Master Books, 1984), 58–59.
    • The Anthropic Principle –Donald B. DeYoung “Scientists, in describing todays universal balance, often refer to "astonishing precision," "cosmic coincidences," or a "contrived appearance." This perspective has been summarized in the Anthropic Principle which states that the universe appears to be carefully designed for the well- being of mankind.” http://www.icr.org/article/design-nature-anthropic-principle/
    • The Anthropic Principle –Max Planck – Father of Modern Physics “According to everything taught by the exact sciences about the immense realm of nature, a certain order prevails--one independent of the human mind . . . this order can be formulated in terms of purposeful activity. There is evidence of an intelligent order of the universe to which both man and nature are subservient.” Barth, A., The Creation In the Light of Modern Science, (1966) Jerusalem Post Press, Jerusalem, p. 144. .

    • God Created…If God didn’t create – then life is relegated tothe cruel and brutal system of naturalselection. Society will reflect the morality ofevolution – survival of the fittest, thesuperman, euthanasia, and abortion becauselife is simply a biological system. If God did create – then life has the uniquepurpose of reflecting an intelligent creator.Creation, nature, science, mathematics etc…become an intense road of discovery of theDivine.
    • God Blessed…Genesis 1:21 So God created the great seacreatures and every living creature thatmoves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every wingedbird according to its kind. And God saw thatit was good. [22] And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill thewaters in the seas, and let birds multiply onthe earth.”He ApprovedHe Empowered,
    • God Blessed…On Day 3 – God gave two blessingsJewish people – even today – celebrate theirweddings on Tuesday – the day of doubleblessing.,
    • God Blessed…If God didn’t Approve and Empower – theCreator would orphan His creation or destroyHis creation. He spoke of recreation toNoah, Moses, Paul, John and through Jesus.A fine line of grace and purpose preventsdestruction. If God Blessed – His creation succeeds.Entropy is preventable. The 2nd Law ofThermodynamics is revoked and will be seenonly as a historical fact of the curse.
    • Because God Is – we should remember Him,ponder Him, and seek Him.Because God Spoke – we should discover Hiswords in Creation and in ScriptureBecause God Created – we should bowbefore Him and worship the One who givesus life.Because God Blessed – we should be filledwith Thanksgiving and seek to Exalt God
