You and Me Against The World What World Are You in?
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Definition of Terms: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and [I pray God] your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV)
Soul- This is who YOU are; it is a part of your SPIRITUAL component. This is your individuality, your "I AM" so to speak (made in God’s image), your "heart." Although your individual soul did not exist before your mother and father procreated you, it will exist forever. It cannot be killed by man: The soul is the seat of the human personality. The ingredients which make us human beings belong to the soul. The intellect, thought, ideals, love, emotion, understanding, decision, choice, and other like qualities are all associated with the soul. The three main functions of the soul are the will (Job 7:15), the mind (Lam. 3:20, RSV), and the emotion (2 Sam. 5:8; Deut. 6:5) When your body dies your soul (YOU) will leave the body of flesh: "And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin." (Genesis 35:18 KJV)
Spirit- This is the source of power and control for both your body and soul; it is either evil or good, darkness or light, unholy or Holy, unclean or clean, of Satan or of God. According to the revelation of the Bible and the experience of believers, the human spirit can be said to have three main functions. These three functions are conscience (Rom. 9:1; 8:16), intuition (Mark 2:8), and communion (John 4:24). The spirit is the aspect of humanity that connects with God. "For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Heb. 4:12 KJV)
“… Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
When we became Christians, a number of extremely important events took place in heaven and in your own body.
Deep within your vast interior spaces is a tabernacle God built to commune with you. From it He calls you with tender urgency.
After you have accepted the free gift of salvation through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and as you grow and mature in the Lord (your continuing sanctification), you will begin to notice some changes in how you think. You will find that your heart (soul) grows more and more in agreement with God and His law (which is spiritual), but your flesh will still want to go the way of the world.
The life that entered us was the life of God himself. We are a Child of God in literal not metaphorical sense. God is our heavenly father.
We are created for His family, formed for God’s pleasure.
“ If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” John 15:19
The life that entered us Must grow and develop. As it does, it will reflect more and more the likeness of the Father form whom the life came.
As God’s life within us grows, it will influence both your emotional and physical development.
You were created to become like Christ. We are shaped for serving God. We are co-citizens of redeemed human beings.
Our soul is saved, but your flesh, your present physical body, is still dead and cannot be salvaged. It will perish and return to the Earth. Your present flesh will still lust to do those things that are unlawful, while at the same time your heart and the Spirit will condemn those thoughts and feelings and empower you to avoid the temptation. But no Christian is perfect in the flesh, and as you go through this life you will sometimes give in to those feelings and will sin in the flesh (but not in your heart).
A Foe of Legion “ You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” James 4:4
As we establish relationship with God, we also experience a new relationship with power of darkness, we become their enemy. They will attack us.
We will get attracted by the things that appeals to us more, Satan will seduce us through that but our constant triumph over evil forces is never ending.
You may have periods of Darkness of doubts, but there will also be moments of exaltation and glory. Most important of all, you will become free.
“ Resist Devil and He will flee from you.” James 4:7
“ Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up.”
At first you may not feel it but if you really desire God then the Holy Spirit will work His way in you.
Don’t be scared of letting go especially if you know that it is from the Lord, you will have a change of heart.
Your life will be very different if God is the center of it.
