  1. 1. In Agra there are many Places to visit near Taj Mahal In the gone era, Agra was the capital of the Mughal Empire and the city is located on the banks of the river Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh. It is the third largest city in state. It was founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodhi. The city is a tourist destination with innumerable architectural edifices though recently it has developed as an industrial sector as well. A visit to Agra will take you to the Indian historic age. Apart from historical monuments the city is also famous for handicrafts such as Inlay work on Marvel, Footwear, Brasswear, Carpets, Jewellery, Zari and Embroidery work. Apart from Taj Mahal you can explore many places to visit near Taj Mahal. You can also visit Taj Mahostav organized for ten days. Every year in February around 400 artisans from across the country participate in the Mahostav and showcase their work. The festival is visited by innumerable tourist from around the globe. Places to visit near Taj Mahal Fatehpur Sikri :- is one of the most magnificent buildings made from red sandstone. Mughal Emperor Akbar built this glorious fort in 1564 AD. He had constructed this fort as a symbol of gratitude towards Sheikh Salim Chishti who had blessed him so that he could have a son. The fort enshrines the tomb of Salim Chishti and therefore it draws many looking to seek blessings of the saint.
  2. 2. Agra Fort: - One of the most famous places to visit near Taj Mahal is the majestic Agra Fort. Also known as the “Lal Qila” or “Qila-i-Akbari” is the main highlight of the city of Love. The fort was constructed by Emperor Akbar in the 15th Century and the fort was completed by his grandson Shah Jahan. Agra fort consists of many buildings and is spread in 2.4 kms
  3. 3. Moti Masjid: - Moti Masjid also known as the Pearl Mosque was built by the emperor Shah Jahan. The mosque, as it shined like a pearl was named Moti Masjid. The mosque was built by Shah Jahan for the members of the royal court. The sight of the mosque is beautiful and is a delight for visitors. Diwan-I-Khas: - is the Private Hall of audiences and was also built by late Shah Jahan between 1636 and 1637. At Diwan-i-Khas the emperor would meet important dignitaries for discussions. The hall consists of two rooms linked through three arches. It used to also house the renowned Peacock Throne before it was taken to Delhi and then later Iran. It is believed that the remains can be now found in Tehran.
