  • 1.  Adding affixes to existing words (the base or root words) to form a new word is called affixes or affixcation.
  • 2.  Occurs in the front of a root or stem.
  • 3. Occurs at the end of a root or stem
  • 4. Occurs inside of a root or stem
  • 5. Occurs in two parts on both outer edges of a root or stem
  • 6. Replaces one or more phonemes in the root or stem.
  • 7.  Superimposed on one or more syllables in the root or stem as a Supra segmental (extends over more than a single speech sound)  Stress in the word: ‘produce (noun)  pro’duce (verb)
