  5. 5. Chapter Hyperion Financial Management New Features This document describes the new features that are included in Hyperion Financial Management Release 4.0. For information on installation, see the Hyperion Financial Management Installation Guide. For information on late-breaking developments with Hyperion Financial Management, refer to the Hyperion Financial Management Readme. Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 introduces the following five major features: ● A new user interface, standardized for all Hyperion Business Performance Management Suite products, providing superior end user navigation and taskflow ● Hyperion Smart View™ for Office, which includes a new spreadsheet add-in for Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning, and a tighter integration with Microsoft Office products ● Intercompany Transactions module to capture and match intercompany transactions at the invoice level ● Web-based Task Automation module to automate and chain together Hyperion Financial Management tasks such as Load/Extract and Consolidate ● Point of View filtered by security enables users to see only those elements of the Scenario, Entity, ICP, Account and Custom 1...4 dimensions to which they have access. This feature makes system navigation easier. In addition, Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 presents administration and compliance enhancements as well as Web usability enhancements such as a consolidation progress bar, document attachment capability, expanded workspaces, and new features for Web Data Entry forms.New User Interface Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 introduces a new Web user interface. The new design enables the administrator to tailor the interface to more closely match how an end user interacts with the system, enabling easier navigation and customization. Page Layout The new home page is divided into three main areas: ● View Pane Hyperion Financial Management New Features 1
  6. 6. ● Masthead window and top bar menu ● Main window Figure 1 Sample of New User Interface The above example shows the home page as it is displayed for an Advanced user. The Advanced user can switch between Advanced and Basic modes by using the menu option in the masthead area. The Basic user can select from a choice of workspaces in the Project View, or select tasks from a drop-down list. The masthead is the top level area that includes the application name as well as the Hyperion logo and product name. The main window shows the detail of the task or document that you selected from either the View Pane or the drop-down list. View Pane The View Pane is displayed in the left panel of the Hyperion Financial Management Web page. You can minimize or enlarge it as needed. The View Pane window can display a Project View or Browser View, depending on the selected option. The Project View lists the collection of workspaces for each user. You can expand each workspace to show the items that make up the workspace. The Browser View lists all documents and tasks within the application that the user is allowed to access. The Browser View is a split pane. The bottom pane reflects the contents of the item selected in the top pane. You can double-click parent items displayed in the bottom pane to expand them. You can select child items, for example, document names, or tasks, with a single click, which displays the item in the main window. Top Menu The new user interface provides a general top bar menu for File, View, Administration, and Help options.2 Hyperion Financial Management New Features
  7. 7. The menu tasks are contextual. On the Logon page, you can select from the following menu items: ● File: After you log on to an application, the File menu enables you to create new documents as well as change user preferences, change applications, and other administrative tasks, and log out of the application. ● View (Masthead/Pane): Enables you to show or hide components of the window. To increase the amount of space available to a task window, you can hide both the Masthead and the View Pane. ● Administration: Enables direct access to all administrative tasks, including Managing Documents, Managing Workspaces, Managing Favorites, and audit tasks. ● Help: Provides access to help on the selected content and to the Hyperion Internet Web site (www.hyperion.com). For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management User’s or Administrator’s Guide.Hyperion Smart View for Office Hyperion Smart View for Office provides the framework to integrate Microsoft Office Products with Hyperion Financial Management, Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Reports and Hyperion Analyzer information. Hyperion Smart View for Office replaces the existing spreadsheet add-ins for Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Planning 4.0. In addition, it provides tighter Microsoft Office integration by allowing end users to: ● Import Hyperion Reports and Hyperion Analyzer report images into Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. ● Import Hyperion Reports and Hyperion Analyzer report grids into Microsoft Excel. 9. 9. Intercompany Transactions Module Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 provides a complete Intercompany Matching solution including the ability to track, match, and monitor Intercompany balances at a transaction level. This helps you avoid double maintenance and data transfer. It provides you with an efficient way to identify, report, and reconcile Intercompany account differences. The key features of the Intercompany Transactions module include: ● Ability to capture the Intercompany transaction details at the invoice level. ● Ability to match the transactions at the invoice level. ● Ability to match the transactions in the Transaction Currency as well as the Reporting or Parent currency or through translation-on-the-fly. ● Ability to drill down from the existing Intercompany Matching Report (account balance level) to the transaction detail level. ● Ability to view an entity’s partner’s intercompany transaction details with the entity at any time. ● Ability to enter text comments at any level of matching to help resolve mismatching. ● Ability to analyze differences due to real errors in transaction currency or differences due to exchange rates. For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management User’s or Administrator’s Guide. Figure 2 Sample Intercompany Transactions Window Intercompany Transactions Module 5
  10. 10. Task Automation Task Automation is a new Web-based module that provides you with a method for chaining together a series of tasks into a taskflow. You can use Task Automation to automate tasks that you commonly perform using Hyperion Financial Management. When you work with Hyperion Financial Management, you routinely perform tasks such as loading data, running calculations and translations, consolidating parent entities and extracting data through data extract or extended analytics. A taskflow is a sequence of tasks that you can create in Task Automation. Any user defined with the Task Automation role can access, create and maintain taskflows to perform required Hyperion Financial Management operations. The following Hyperion Financial Management activities are available in Task Automation: ● Allocate ● Calculate ● Translate ● Consolidate ● Calculate contribution ● Load Journals ● Extract Journals ● Load Data ● Extract Data ● Execute Journal Action ● Extended Analytics For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management User’s Guide.Point of View Filtered by Security Hyperion Financial Management introduces metadata filtering based on security in the Point of View and in Web data grids. Filtering the display of metadata facilitates navigation in large applications and enables you to keep certain metadata information confidential. There are two new application attributes to activate this feature: ● EnableMetadataSecurityFiltering ● EnableICPfiltering The following dimensions are applicable for security filtering based on the security class assigned to each member: Scenario, Entity, Account, and C1 to C4. The metadata filtering on the ICP dimension cannot be based on the security classes applied to the ICP members because the ICP dimension is a system-generated dimension based on the IsICP attribute set for the Entity dimension. It is based on the security class assigned to “SecurityasPartner” in the Entity dimension.6 Hyperion Financial Management New Features
  11. 11. Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 introduces a new security right called Metadata that enables end users to view the metadata members in the hierarchy but with a None access right regarding the data attached to those members. Figure 3 Sample Web Point of View Note that users have implied access to the parent and ancestors of any member to which they have been granted access. This means that users see those ancestors and parents in a hierarchical tree structure but are not able to access them. HFM 4.0 Metadata filtering supports Organization by Period setting. When the Org by Period setting is specified for the Entity list enumeration, the system checks the Active account value for the Parent/Child node to determine whether the entity is active for the given Scenario/Year/Period. For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management Administrator’s Guide.Administration and Compliance Enhancements The following administration and compliance enhancements have been added in this release. Consolidation Progress Bar and Running Tasks The Running Tasks module enables the administrator or the end user to gauge the progress of Consolidation, Data Loads, or Extended Analytics. Administration and Compliance Enhancements 7
  12. 12. For example, when a consolidation starts, the consolidation progress bar is automatically displayed in a separate window. Information on the Point of View, the user and time are also available. The consolidation progress bar feature enables you to perform another task while the consolidation is running without starting a new session. The Running Tasks module also enables you to stop tasks in progress. For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management Administrator’s Guide. Figure 4 Sample Running Tasks Window Document Attachments Hyperion Financial Management 4.0 introduces new compliance updates designed to support better documentation by end users. ● Document attachments provides the ability to attach documents in Web Data Entry forms, Web grid cells and in Process Management cells. ● Cell text has the ability to support up to 1900 characters (increased from 256 characters as supported in HFM 3.5x). The documents are stored in the database and you can apply security classes to them. You can load all types of documents into Hyperion Financial Management, for example, Excel documents (.xls), Word documents (.doc,) text (.txt), and PowerPoint ( .ppt) files. For more information, see the Hyperion Financial Management User’s Guide.8 Hyperion Financial Management New Features
  13. 13. Figure 5 Sample Document AttachmentsIn Hyperion Reports 7.2, you can display document attachments. The cells with attacheddocuments are underlined and you can access a document by clicking on the list. In PDFformat, the attached documents are printed after the regular pages.Security Enhancements - Sarbanes-Oxley ComplianceHyperion Financial Management 4.0 introduces many new security roles and access rights toallow administrators better control over access to critical system data.New Security RolesThe following security roles have been added in this release.● Consolidate All with Data - Controls whether a user can execute a consolidate all with data.● Enable write-back in Web Grid - Controls whether a user can submit data in Web Data Grids.● Database Management - Controls whether a user can access Database Management on the Web.● Manage Ownership - Controls whether a user can access Manage Ownership on the Web.● Advanced User - Controls whether a user has access to the View Pane.
