Another month nearer to the Ayurveda healing village. . .
It is yet another dawn in the journey to the Vision of vaidyagrAma. . .

Sarpabali at vaidyagrAma
The land and the ambience is more positive as well as energized with
the special pooja named Sarpabali, that was organized in vaidyagrAma,
early last month.
It was conducted by renowned priest Shri. Krishnakumar Namboodiri of

Pathirikunnath Mana, & were attended by many friends and well‐
wishers of vaidyagrAma.
Everybody partook of the blessings from this special ritual, that was
done for the well‐being of the land, vaidyagrAma, all the team, all well‐
wishers as well as for the patients who will be coming to that Ayurveda
healing village
village.
The land is thus be symbolically purified of all its bad effects, and is
more ready to be vaidyagrAma.

Sarpabali Pooja

The construction at vaidyagrAma is progressing well…. One cluster
with Patients’ block, Therapists’ block, & Physicians’ block will be
getting ready soon.

The roofing for the building is done with Baliapatinam tiles, which are
methodically mounted to give its quality in terms of strength as well as beauty.

One of the water tanks to hold around 60,000 liters of water for
vaidyagrAma is also getting ready.

vaidyagrAma has become more environment‐friendly this month, with
the solar street light as well as windmill in place. The windmill will start
to function soon, as the installation work is completed. The solar street
light as well as the solar lamp lend light to the premises of vaidyagrAma
well. With appropriate use of Nature’s resources, efforts towards its
being a Green hospital will be a dream‐come‐true soon.

Now is time to reap the rewards of the efforts, as the cultivation in
vaidyagrAma is bearing fruit!
We have had organically grown vegetables & lentils already and the
already,
seeds sown have also sprouted to become saplings, lending more of its
green hue to the vaidyagrAma ambience. The first batch of
vermicompost prepared is already fostering the earth and the plants
in vaidyagrAma.
All the more, the atmosphere is one of natural well‐being now, as the
plants are all grown organically.

vaidyagrAma hosted its first academic session in the month of October,
with Sanskrit scholar Shri. Venmani Bhavadasan Namboodiri’s
thought‐provoking discourse on Indian Philosophy in the context of

Ayurveda. It was attended by the Punarnava Ayurveda family & the
well‐wishers, who attended the Sarpabali also that evening.
‘vaidyagrAma’ means a gathering of vaidyAs (Ayurveda Physicians) . . .
and vaidyagrAma witnessed its first meet of vaidyAs also in the month of

October. They gathered to revisit the classical Ayurveda texts, to perfect
their skills to care and cure patients who will come to vaidyagrAma for
their Ayurveda care.

The last month also had many friends and well‐wishers visit the land of
vaidyagrAma & offer their good wishes and support to the bigger cause. . .

Some of them planted trees at vaidyagrAma, & joined the green hospital
campaign. . .

The Navratri season also had seen traditional ceremonies in vaidyagrAma,
where the tools and machines used for consruction were also sanctified
at the pooja.

The monthly Ganesha Homam also added to the sanctity of the cause and

the purity of the environment at vaidyagrAma.

The Journey to vaidyagrAma . . .
* The Ayurveda Healing Village vaidyagrAma is being created in the
green land in the outskirts of Coimbatore – India…. in the most
natural, most environment-friendly way.
* With all the good wishes, the construction of the healing village has
commenced in the land. The foundation for the first Hospital is laid,
and the process is going on. It consists of 3 clusters each with 3
hospital blocks, each consisting of 4 patient rooms, 1 treatment
room, Therapists block & the Physicians Block. The Phase 1 of
vaidyagrAma, which will be open to the world by April 2009, can
accommodate almost 100 patients.
* The aim is to create a most natural healing space, in all aspects, &
hence the effort to make & maintain the structure as natural as
possible.
possible There has been use of special mud walls; with the usage of
natural mud & binders available, the effort is to reduce the usage of
cement. A herbal termite treatment is given, thus making even the
construction, most eco-friendly as possible. The commitment is to
create a truly natural Ayurveda hospital that is based on the textual
dictates, and yet that suits contemporary times.

* Towards the realistic goal of self-sufficiency to a greater extent,
vaidyagrAma is taking its step forward. A nursery has been
initiated for the medicinal plants in the premises itself

* It is a matter of days when these clusters will take form, as
envisaged in the concept of vaidyagrAma, the holistic healing village.
