  • 2. Would you prefer to be like this? An American survey some years ago found that some people weremore afraid of public speaking than nuclear war, death and financial ruin.

  • 6. Stand up, speak up,make yourself heard

  • 9.  Who makes good public speakers? Is it something that only some people posess, or can anyone do it? ANYONE!!! Public speaking is not a gift, it is a skill Some people may be better, but everyone can do it
  • 10.  The key to public speaking? Easy... Be PASSIONATE about what you are talking about HOW!? KNOW your work. Anything can be intresting if your passionate about it
  • 11.  Know the needs of your audience and match your contents to their needs Know your material throughly ◦ Put what you want to say into logical sequence ◦ Do not waste your audiences time Know what your strong and weak points are How you are being percieved is very important ◦ Dress appropiately for the occasion ◦ Present the desired image to your audience
  • 12.  Important acting skills ◦ Remain calm, and appear relaxed even if you feel nervous ◦ Speak slowly, enunciate clearly and show the appropriate emotion and feeling relating to your topic ◦ Speak to the person farthest away from you, thus ensures your voice is loud enough ◦ Vary the tone of your voice and dramatize if necessary ◦ I love the confidence that makeup gives me – Tyra Banks
  • 13.  Talking and walking about with the appropriate hand gesture or facial expression Public speaking is not Public READING, know your material Master your presentation software or props Do not over dazzel contents Do not make the text unreadable
  • 14.  Speak with conviction, persuade your audience Maintain sincere eye contact
  • 15.  Tips on how to adjust and adapt ◦ Respond to your audience ◦ Watch their body language ◦ Humor is a brilliant way to reset their response ◦ Talking directly to someone or asking a question to someone ◦ Do not overdue this, stay with the work
  • 16.  The art of Pausing ◦ Pausing is a very effective skill if used right ◦ If you have a serious point or something people might want to ask a question about, use pausing ◦ Pausing is NOT waiting ◦ Do not wait for something to happen, make people reflect ◦ HOW?  Facial expression, hand gestures
  • 17.  Handouts and Visual aids ◦ Know when is the key ◦ If it is something they can read – LATER ◦ If it is something they need – WHEN THEY NEED IT ◦ Plan well when to use them ◦ Do not hand out unneccesary papers and visual tools it will brake their attention
  • 18.  Body language ◦ The use of your body should emphasize your emotion ◦ Do not over emphasize, it should only be a tool not the show ◦ The key tools is your hands, face and shoulders
