    2. library @ orchard
        • library @ orchard first opened on 21 October 1999 as the first niche public library in Singapore with a lifestyle concept and focused on providing an Adult and Young People’s Collection and Services.
        • Target user profile was the young adult segment aged 18 to 35.
    3. library @ orchard
        • Key objective of library @ orchard was:
          • To woo back the inactive young adult library user into the public library system.
        • With the lifestyle concept, library @ orchard aimed:
          • To be more than a traditional book repository but a meeting place for young people to interact, network and learn.
    4. library @ orchard
        • As at FY06, library @ orchard had:
          • Adult and Young People collection size of 126,729 books, serials and audio-visual materials in 4 languages
          • 73 programmes with an attendance of 4,186
          • 1,173,331 visitorship
          • 714,850 loans
          • 203,035 enquiries
          • 4,253 new members
    5. Closure of library @ orchard
        • library @ orchard will cease its operations to the public and close at its current site at Level 5 of Ngee Ann City on 30 November 2007.
        • Library users will still be able to use the bookdrop located at Level 5 to return their books until 15 December 2007.
        • The lease of library @ orchard at Ngee Ann City ends on 29 February 2008.
    6. Relocation of library @ orchard
        • library @ orchard is planning to relocate to two new possible locations by 2010:
          • *scape by MCYS, next to Cineleisure
          • possibly another redeveloped site along Orchard Road
        • Focus areas for these two new possible locations will be announced at a later date.
    7. Relocation of library @ orchard
        • To commemorate the relocation of library @ orchard, a line-up of programmes has been arranged. From August to November 2007, library patrons can look forward to various programmes at library @ orchard
        • On 21 October 2007, library @ orchard anniversary celebrations will kick-off. All of these programmes are based on a special theme of
        • ‘ M oving O n’
        • Launch of library @ orchard blog (blogs.nlb.gov.sg/orchard)

Timeline library @ orchard’s anniversary celebrations kick-off 21 October 2007 Last Day as library @ orchard closes to the public library @ orchard ‘moving on’ party 30 November 2007 Estimated completion date for library @ orchard at *scape by MCYS and another redeveloped site along Orchard Road. 2010 Relocation and reinstatement of premises and handover to Ngee Ann City 1 December 2007 - 29 February 2008 Kick-off of a line-up of programmes to commemorate the closure of library @ orchard at Level 5 of Ngee Ann City 25 July – 30 November 2007 Media announcement of closure of library @ orchard at current premises 25 July 2007
