Measles time course Time course of measles virus infection. Measles vaccination Reported cases of measles in the United States, 1950:1990. Immediately after the introduction of the vaccine, the incidence declined dramatically. A measles epidemic occurred between 1989 and 1991, with most cases affecting unvaccinated children younger than 5 years.
