  • Beyond Green: EMC and Energy Efficient IT April 2008 IT is trying to catch up with the accelerating pace of its own technological progress which has historically been focused on delivering faster, cheaper, better, products. Only in recent years has IT begun focusing in earnest on achieving higher levels of efficiency. According to research performed by EMC and our partners, the average utilization rates for servers today range from 5 to 15% and for storage that is not networked from 20 to 40%. At the same time, organizations have so much information under management that much of it is rarely accessed.
