Louis Braille was a French educator who developed the Braille system of printing andwriting for the blind. Himself blinded at the age of 3 in an accident, he went to Paris in 1819 toattend the National Institute for Blind Children, and from 1826 he taught there. Braille adapted a method created by Charles Barbier to develop his own simplified system.
I learned that before louIs braIlle’s invention, blind people were known as dumb. He invented braille so that he and others could do what sighted people can do. He helped many people like Helen Keller and today people all over the world are thankful for louIs braIlle’s InventIon. This is a picture of Helen Keller reading braille.
