  3. 3. What is Unicode • Unicode provides a unique number for every character. They store letters and other characters by assigning a no. for each one. We use ASCII code for writing English language but this is not sufficient to write all English letters and other language. ASCII is only for English language. Like for Oriya letter “ ଏ ” Unicode unique no. is “0B0F” Hindi letter “ ए ” Unicode unique no. is “090F”
  4. 4. • FontForge is a software which is used to create new fonts, allows us to edit existing fonts and can convert from one font format to another. • FontForge is an extremely power full software system offering practically all the features of FontLab

  10. 10. Font creation : Creating a Glyph Scroll tool. We can use this tool to scroll the window without using the scroll bars.
  11. 11. Font creation : Creating a Glyph  Add a curve Point.  Add a curve Point always either horizontal or vertical.  Add a corner point.  Add a tangent point.

  15. 15. Font creation : Creating a Glyph Scale the section. This tool allows we to scale the selection by eye rather than by a set amount.
  16. 16. Font creation : Creating a Glyph Flip the section. This tool allows we to flip the selection either horizontally or vertically.
  17. 17. Font creation : Creating a Glyph Rotate the section. This tools allows we to rotate the selection freely.

  20. 20. Font creation : Creating a Glyph  Used to draw Polygon or star.
  21. 21. Font creation : Creating a Glyph The foreground (Fore) layer contains the outline that will become part of the font. The background (Back) layer can contain images or line drawings that help us to draw this particular glyph. The guide (Guide) layer contains lines that are useful on a font-wide basis.
  22. 22. Font creation : Design the Font This is the key image of oriya fonts, all normal letter design are already present only we have to design a new one using normal letter design. ଓ

  26. 26. Conclusion 1. The new Unicode Font Designing software FontForge marks the knowledge of creation of different font designs and also editing font designs using very unique ways that helps creating font styles of various different languages reducing complexities. 2. This technique proves to be very useful and advantageous in case of designing font styles of those languages that might have one or more font design only such as Hindi, Bengali, Oriya, Telugu etc. 3. Using this software one can design his own fonts.
