      • What’s hot
      • Give or get help
      • Keep connected
      • Build relationships
      • Promote yourself
      • Promote your brand
      • Promote people you like

      • Customise your Twitter page
      • Dress your page as you would dress yourself
      • Add a photo

      • Using an application like Tweetdeck will make it easier for you to see what is happening in your network and through your searches

      • Start with your friends , people you really know
      • Take a look through your friends, friends – follow people with interesting profiles
      • You can always unfollow and block people later
      • Find People on Twitter

      • Wefollow – index yourself and find others
      • Mr.Tweet - recommendations
      • Twollow – Auto follow on keywords
      • ExecTweet – Find and follow top execs
    9. When following
      • Trust your instincts
      • Are they in the same business?
      • Do they have similar interests?
      • Is it a real person – not a machine?
      • You don’t have to follow everyone

    10. @replies (@) and direct messages (D)
      • If you start a tweet and put @ in front of someone user name eg. “@ragtag” or “@ibmevents” Twitter will let them know someone has sent a message - public
      • If you want to send a private message you type “D ragtag” (notice a space between the “D” and ragtag
      • Without @replies you would never know that someone was talking to you
    11. Retweets (RT)
      • If you see a tweet that you like you can forward it on to all your followers by retweeting
      • For example
      • When your friends RT someone you may want to follow the person that made the original comment
      • Without RT you would never know people were talking about you

      • Share, follow, reply, repeat
      • Lots of theories and “rules” that people have come up with
      • 50/50 – Personal / Business
      • 30/30/30/10 – 30% You, 30% business, 30% others, 10% fun
      • Talk the way you talk to people in real life.. It’s no different
      • It’s social – be social, don’t be a bore
      • It’s a party anyone can come to
      • Before you talk, it’s good to listen
