Energy

  1. 1. Energy Elomatic offers diverse and independent energy consulting and design services for both industrial and public sector customers. Our expertise covers the entire energy value chain from fuel refining through to energy generation and distribution. We have experience of both fossil fuel and renewable energy sources. Biomass-based energy generation is a clear focus area at Elomatic. We have extensive experience in biomass refining, biotechnology, chemical technology and energy generation. We are able to put this diverse know-how at our customers' disposal in the fast growing biomass- based energy production sector. We offer our customers a wide range of services from project concept design to detailed design and implementation. Deep domain knowledge in: Energy consulting Biofuels Energy generation Energy distribution and efficiency Broad in-house engineering scope Process engineering Plant engineering Mechanical engineering Construction engineering HVAC engineering Electrical engineering and Instrumentation Automation system engineering Information system engineering
  2. 2. Energy consulting Our energy consultants provide advice and expertise to our customers in energy generation projects all the way up to project start-up if necessary. We develop and present energy solutions that take sustainable development and operational profitability into consideration. Our extensive experience of different technologies gives our clients the confidence to develop their own business operations. Our consultants are familiar with the special requirements of industrial and public sector customers and take these into consideration in developing optimal solutions. The size of our customers commissions does not affect the quality of our deliveries. Deep domain knowledge in: Business plans Due diligence evaluations Procurement services Conceptual and basic engineering for plant investments Environmental impact evaluations and licensing Investment application preparation Biofuels and fuel surveys Electrical, heating and fuel agreements Project management services Measurement and life cycle services Small and medium-sized energy generation CHP (Combined Heat and Power) District heating and cooling systems Electrical and automation systems CE marking and risk evaluations Services Energy generation consulting Renewable energy audits for municipalities Carbon footprint surveys Biofuels Biofuels have become a feasible alternative for both fossil fuels and fossil fuel-based energy generation. This is the result of technological developments and political will that aims to reduce emissions and ensure energy self-sufficiency and supply. Elomatic's traditional expertise areas in wheat and oil plant refining as well as bio, process and energy technology provide a strong base for biofuel know-how.
  3. 3. Deep domain knowledge in: Bioethanol Biogas production Pellet production Services Business plans Concept and project feasibility studies Conceptual design Project management and procurement Detailed design (process, plant, HVAC, civil, electrical, automation Delivery and installation supervision Start-up and training Measurement and life cycle services EPCM project service concept (engineering, procurement, construction management) Siemens automation systems on turnkey basis Energy generation Energy generation plants can be divided into base, intermediate and peaking plants as well as industrial energy generation plants. Different types of plants have unique features that need to be taken into consideration in plant selection and implementation. Elomatic has extensive experience in the design and implementation of different types of energy generation plants in cooperation with plant suppliers and energy generation companies. Deep domain knowledge in: Heating plants Process heating and district heating plants Process steam plants CHP plants Condensing power plants Gas and diesel motor plants Gasification - plants ORC plants Heat pump plants Boiler component design Technology R&D projects Process and structural analysis
  4. 4. Services Concept and project feasibility studies Conceptual design Project management and procurement Detailed design (process, plant, HVAC, civil, electrical, automation Delivery and installation supervision Start-up and training Measurement and life cycle services EPCM project service concept (engineering, procurement, construction management) Siemens automation systems on turnkey basis District heating and cooling networks Efficient energy generation needs to be complimented with efficient energy distribution networks. Elomatic has extensive know-how in the construction and management of district heating and cooling of both new and old networks. Our NetInfo service provides customers with tool to manage networks that allows all network information to be managed easily using modern methods. Deep domain knowledge in: District heating network dimensioning and simulation District heating network detailed design District heating batteries Heat distribution centres Industrial energy audits and analyses Subsidy application preparation Heat recovery systems Heat pumps Services Concept and project feasibility studies Conceptual design and permit applications Project management and procurement Detailed design (process, plant, HVAC, civil, electrical, automation Delivery and installation supervision Start-up and training Measurement and life cycle services NetInfo network service
  5. 5. Energy efficiency Our energy efficiency experts conduct energy audits for both industrial and public sector customers. The goal of an energy audit is to analyse the customer's total energy use and to identify potential energy savings and the measures required to achieve savings. We also analyse the viability of renewable energy use and sources of CO2 emissions. Elomatic’s expert auditors conduct energy audits according to the Motiva model for industry, communes and real estates. The audits are conducted by Motiva trained and qualified auditors that have diverse experience of energy projects. Elomatic implements the audit phases from measurements to reports according to the customer’s needs. The close cooperation continues throughout the entire life cycle of realization projects. In implementation projects we are able to draw on the diverse design know-how found across the different Elomatic business areas.. Deep domain knowledge in: Industrial energy audits and analyses Communal energy audits Subsidy application preparation (Finland) Heat recovery systems Heat pump applications Elomatic NetInfo - District Heating System management service Elomatic NetInfo is an internet-based service for the effective and easy management of district heating network information. The service collects district heating network information in one place; all documents are centralized in the NetInfo system and are easily accessible. Several users can benefit from the system simultaneously and licenses are acquired as needed. This enables information transfer and interaction between partners. NetInfo brings quality and cost efficiency improvements District heating network information is always accessible from the Internet Up-to-date information about network and changes made to it No investments in software or devices The service does not tie up personnel resources The NetInfo service is a beneficial tool for different users (management, installation and maintenance, customer) Diverse functions ease over-all management Check location information Viewing and editing of feature information
  6. 6. Printing and distribution of documents and maps Network and customer reports Map search for example according to street name or customer/consumer number Energy audits Energy audits aim to lower energy and water consumption, related costs and CO2 emissions. By means of energy audits a target facility’s whole energy consumption, energy potential and derived profitability are clarified. The Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy subsidizes energy audits that have been conducted according to the Motiva model. The subsidy covers a maximum of 40-60% of the energy audit costs. Energy Audit Benefits Cost savings; also without investments Improvements in instrument monitoring and energy efficiency Basic information about device condition and performance Reduction of CO2 emissions Typical suggested actions Making use of lost heat in process water and exhaust air with the help of a heat pump Improving maintenance and efficiency of heat recovery devices Changing operation times of air ventilation and lighting Correcting compressed air network leaks Replacing oil with renewable energy Carbon Footprint Studies An operational carbon footprint survey reveals the amount of green house gases released into the atmosphere as a direct result of business operations. The data produced in determining the carbon footprint can be used as initial data in efforts to improve the environmental friendliness of services and production. The primary goal in defining the operational carbon footprint of an organization is data production. The data informs the organization about its own environmental impact and aids in determining which actions are required to reduce this impact. Operations that are environmentally sustainable are naturally a plus to any company's image. Environmentally
  7. 7. friendly thinking in organizations also more often than not leads to changes that produce concrete savings. Carbon footprint survey phases Definition of actions used in calculation Selection of calculation methods Operational data collection Calculation of carbon footprint Reporting and suggested measures and if required organization of continuous monitoring
