Transcript of "Neg space rubric : reflection"

  1. 1. DIRECTIONS:Written in essay form and using complete sentences, compose an Artist Statement of at least one paragraph that addresses each of the following components: - What techniques did you use to develop this piece? (Look at the criteria above for examples!) - How did you use these techniques to make your drawing successful, unique, and/or meaningful? - Discuss the planning process: How did you choose your final composition for this drawing? What steps did you take in order to get to the final product? - Were you inspired by anything you saw or experienced in class or otherwise? - Is your drawing meaningful to you personally? Why or why not? If it does not, what could you have done differently to make it meaningful? - How could you use any of these skills in the future? (In art class or outside of class.) Please use the back of this sheet to complete your reflection. A typed response is also permitted. APPEL • ART 1 • SHAPE ANDVALUE DRAWING RUBRIC / REFLECTION OBJECTIVE DESIGN STUDIO SKILLS PRESENTATION You created a a shape & value drawing on 18”x24” paper from observation of 1-3 objects. (5 pts) Your paper is divided so that at least half is filled by your drawing, and the remaining area contains a value scale and three thumbnail sketches. (5 pts) Your drawing shows a sense of space by representing the object as well as the background behind it. (4 pts) You used your viewfinder and/or the “keys to composition” (size, view, and placement) to create a dynamic composition which shows good balance of positive and negative space. (6 pts) Your drawing creates the illusion of form by avoiding the use of dark outlines and instead uses shapes of values to build up a sense of form and space. (5 pts) Objects drawn are in proportion and sighting was used to depict accurate angles. (5 pts.) You have all 7 values from your value scale represented within your drawing. (5 pts) You avoided smudging, instead relying only on your pencil marks and pencil pressure to make value shifts. (3 pts) You used every class period productively and appropriately. (2 pts) The final drawing is evident of quality, time, thought, and care. (5 pts.) There are no pencil smudges, ripped areas, excess creases, or unnecessary marks on your final piece.
