  2. 2. hi, everyone! you should work on... • try to upload a profile picture (see instructions later in this presentation) • work on the “About Me,” “Art is...,” and “Artist Statement” sections as described on your worksheet. (even if you can’t log in to a computer, you can start writing this sections on paper and type it in later!) • don’t worry about photographing artwork yet - we will pick up with that tomorrow • for an example, see my (Ms. Appel’s) Mahara page then click on “Art 2 / Art 2 GT - Sample Profile Page” (NOTE: your profile page is NOT a new page you need to create, but instead, it is how you should build/add on to your already existing Profile Page.)

Consider the following if you need a starting point:  • What makes someone an artist?  • What do you consider to be art?  • Why is art special to you? ARTIST STATEMENT (Text Box - “General”, then drag the “Text Box” icon where you want it located.) WHAT TO INCLUDE: Reflect on the following to begin forming an Artist Statement: • What materials, ideas/themes, subject matter etc. interest you at this point? • How do the materials you choose to use help to communicate your ideas?  • Any artists that inspire you? What is it about them or their work that influences your own?  • What would you like to begin exploring in your artwork? IMAGE OF MY FAVORITE ARTWORK (“Files, images, and video”, then drag the “An Image” icon where you want it located on your page.) WHAT TO INCLUDE: A photograph of your favorite artwork that you have created this year in class. A PEEK INSIDE MY SKETCHBOOK (“Files, images, and video”, then drag the “Image Gallery” icon where you want it located on your page. If you make a folder titled “sketchbook” within your uploaded files, you can select the entire folder.) WHAT TO INCLUDE: At least 5 photographs of sketchbook pages that you have created this year.

  5. 5. how to add a profile picture 1. find a picture. this can be anything! (it does not have to actually be a picture of you!) if you are having trouble deciding, don’t worry - you can always change it! 2. go to Content > Profile pictures
  6. 6. how to add a profile picture 3. upload your profile picture. if it is too big, check out the next slide. } these are the ones I have already uploaded. if you haven’t uploaded any, this area will be blank for you.
  7. 7. how to add a profile picture 4. if you need to make your profile picture smaller, open it in iPhoto, then click File > Export and make the quality/ size smaller. then try uploading it again! you probably don’t need to go all the way down to Low (smallest size) and Small you can experiment
