  3. 3. I t was Indira Gandhi who started India’s Nuclear Weapons Program for India’s Security and Stability INDIA - 1967
  4. 4. I ndia, under Indira Gandhi Conducted its First Nuclear Test in Pokhran. It became The Youngest Nuclear Country in the World INDIA - 1974
  5. 5. INDIA - 1998 I ndia exercised its nuclear option made possible because of the commitment of successive Congress Governments to develop credible minimum nuclear deterrent to safeguard its national security and retain strategic autonomy
  6. 6. <ul><li>I ndia has never signed the CTBT </li></ul><ul><li>It has been the Most responsible Nuclear Power </li></ul><ul><li>The Energy Crises prompts India to get Civil Nuclear Energy for Future </li></ul><ul><li>This was only possible by ending India’s decade old isolation at the NSG(Nuclear Suppliers Group) </li></ul>INDIA - 2005
  7. 7. INDIA - 2005 I t is Dr. Manmohan Singh Who took upon this Task and signed a 123 agreement with the United States

INDIA - 2008 <ul><li>India ended its decades old Nuclear Isolation by getting an NSG waiver. </li></ul><ul><li>More than 35 countries supported India’s cause for getting nuclear material. </li></ul><ul><li>India can indulge in Nuclear Trade with any country for its energy. </li></ul><ul><li>India has the right to conduct Nuclear Tests for its National Interests. </li></ul>
  9. 9. INDIA - 2009 I t is the Vision and leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh , that India got a chance to increase its Civilian Nuclear Capacity for generating electricity
  10. 10. <ul><li>I ndia has now signed Civil Nuclear trade agreements with France, Russia and Kazakhstan </li></ul><ul><li>The autonomy of India’s strategic Nuclear Program stands intact </li></ul><ul><li>This agreement was discussed in both houses of Parliament, with scientists and with people </li></ul>INDIA - 2009
