  • 2. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION…
    • As an foundation, we wanted to find "the better way" to educate people of the Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS).
    • A nonprofit charitable organization that was established on December 12, 1991.
  • 3.
    • This foundation was started with the purpose of helping to prevent sudden and unexpected cardiac death in children and in young adults.
    CONTINUE…
  • 4. MISSION…
    • To save the lives and support the families of children and young adults who are genetically predisposed to sudden death due to heart rhythm abnormalities.
  • 5. WHAT IS SADS
    • Sudden arrhythmia death syndromes (SADS) is genetic heart rhythm abnormalities conditions that can cause sudden death in young, apparently healthy people – who are undiagnosed. These conditions can be treated and deaths can be prevented. SADS condition are passed down from parent to child with each child of an affected parent having a 50% chance of inheriting the condition.
  • 6. PROCESS…
    • As more victims are taken from us, we do our best to go around the world and spread the word about SADS.
    • Each month we put on many seminars and charity events in memory of those who have lost the battle.
  • 7. INPUTS…
    • We need help from charities and people like you to be able to spread the word and alert people of the dangers of this deadly disease.
    • People willing to give some time and donations are what keep us going.
  • 8. OUTPUTS…
    • The  SADS Family Pedigree Project  and  SADS Pedigree Kit  can help you identify and help other family members who need to be screened – and save lives!
    • Sponsoring public awareness meetings in local communities, providing educational videos, and also sponsor the International SADS Awareness Week .
  • 9. THE GOAL…
    • To inform everyone about the effects of untreated/undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmias and the methods by which death can be prevented.
    • To have volunteers participate in awareness activities, support groups and other awareness events.
    • To prevent additional tragedies that can be avoided through early detection and proper treatment.
  • 10. HOW YOU CAN HELP…
    • As a foundation they rely on their volunteers to help spread the word of SADS conditions.
    • Join their efforts and become a SADS awareness volunteer by emailing Adrienne or calling 1(800)786-7723

  • 11. COMMUNITY NEED
    • Too many people of all ages, lives have ended so suddenly.
    • If the communities joined in and help spread the word, more lives could be saved and less grieving would be happening.
  • 12. SHUTTLEWORTH FOUNDATION
    • The Shuttleworth foundation is all about people who change the world for the better.
    • Our foundation does just that, we want to help save peoples lives, and help them live longer lives.
    • With the two working together, many great things can come from the partnership.
  • 13. CRITICAL READING
    • This foundation is based on critical reading.
    • Reading about the disease, studying it, the doctors of this foundation worked hard so they can make a change in the world, to make a difference.
  • 14. CRITICAL THINKING
    • As a foundation we had to think of ways to get the word out and how to grab the attention of funding organizations to make a difference.
  • 15. CRITICAL ACTION
    • Action needed to take place in order for this foundation to grow.
    • A group of doctors met and tests are now available for people and now more lives can be saved.
  • 16.
    • A very close friend of mine lost a friend from this disease. She has told me many stories and it broke my heart. I decided to do my project on this foundation, to learn more about it and how I can become involved, as well as get you involved.
