  2. 2. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION… <ul><li>As an foundation, we wanted to find &quot;the better way&quot; to educate people of the Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS). </li></ul><ul><li>A nonprofit charitable organization that was established on December 12, 1991. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>This foundation was started with the purpose of helping to prevent sudden and unexpected cardiac death in children and in young adults. </li></ul>CONTINUE…
  4. 4. MISSION… <ul><li>To save the lives and support the families of children and young adults who are genetically predisposed to sudden death due to heart rhythm abnormalities. </li></ul>
  5. 5. WHAT IS SADS <ul><li>Sudden arrhythmia death syndromes (SADS) is genetic heart rhythm abnormalities conditions that can cause sudden death in young, apparently healthy people – who are undiagnosed. These conditions can be treated and deaths can be prevented. SADS condition are passed down from parent to child with each child of an affected parent having a 50% chance of inheriting the condition. </li></ul>
  6. 6. PROCESS… <ul><li>As more victims are taken from us, we do our best to go around the world and spread the word about SADS. </li></ul><ul><li>Each month we put on many seminars and charity events in memory of those who have lost the battle. </li></ul>
  7. 7. INPUTS… <ul><li>We need help from charities and people like you to be able to spread the word and alert people of the dangers of this deadly disease. </li></ul><ul><li>People willing to give some time and donations are what keep us going. </li></ul>

OUTPUTS… <ul><li>The  SADS Family Pedigree Project  and  SADS Pedigree Kit  can help you identify and help other family members who need to be screened – and save lives! </li></ul><ul><li>Sponsoring public awareness meetings in local communities, providing educational videos, and also sponsor the International SADS Awareness Week . </li></ul><ul><li>http://www.parentheartwatch.org/ </li></ul>

THE GOAL… <ul><li>To inform everyone about the effects of untreated/undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmias and the methods by which death can be prevented. </li></ul><ul><li>To have volunteers participate in awareness activities, support groups and other awareness events. </li></ul><ul><li>To prevent additional tragedies that can be avoided through early detection and proper treatment. </li></ul>

SHUTTLEWORTH FOUNDATION <ul><li>The Shuttleworth foundation is all about people who change the world for the better. </li></ul><ul><li>Our foundation does just that, we want to help save peoples lives, and help them live longer lives. </li></ul><ul><li>With the two working together, many great things can come from the partnership. </li></ul>

  15. 15. CRITICAL ACTION <ul><li>Action needed to take place in order for this foundation to grow. </li></ul><ul><li>A group of doctors met and tests are now available for people and now more lives can be saved. </li></ul>
  16. 16. <ul><li>A very close friend of mine lost a friend from this disease. She has told me many stories and it broke my heart. I decided to do my project on this foundation, to learn more about it and how I can become involved, as well as get you involved. </li></ul>PERSONAL CONNECTION
