  • 19. In the beginning<br />Twitter? What’s that she asked?<br />It’s a micro-blogging site and everyone’s using it!<br />Maybe we should too? But what should we Tweet about?<br />The wonderful work of our charity, the services we provide, events we hold and our fabulous fundraisers!<br />Maybe we can build relationships with similar organisations too…now that’s an idea!<br />
  • 20. Is anybody listening?<br />Ok, so I’ve Tweeted…now what?<br />Wait, somebody replied with RT and repeated what I said…is this good?<br />Actually it’s excellent- it means they endorse what you said and now their followers know all about it too!<br />Great….maybe I should engage more.<br />

How to make friends & influence people<br />So we’re a dementia charity with a large network of carers, why not follow other carer organisations?<br />We also have Nurses who work within the NHS- follow NHS Trusts, Nurses and Nursing Organisations eg RCN.<br />Follow people who have experiences of caring and dementia.<br />Listen to what they’re saying and respond. Simples!<br />

Measuring outcomes<br />Let me tell you a story…<br />@NursingTimes asked a question to which @fordementia responded.<br />@NursingTimes liked our response so much they asked us to write an article.<br />What happened next you say?<br />Our story was featured on their website and in their newsletter.<br />Result!<br />
  • 23. One good deed deserves another<br />@fordementiabecame good friends with the very nice people from @vitalise through Twitter.<br />We liked what they had to say and what their charity does.<br />Ergo, we featured a story about their respite breaks for people with dementia and their partners on our website.<br />They thought this was a grand idea and are going to reciprocate.<br />And that my friends is what they call SOCIAL NETWORKING!<br />
