  • 3. <ul><li>WHO WAS SAINT PATRICK??? </li></ul>
  • 4. Before becoming “Saint Patrick”, Patrick was a priest (a religious catholic and Christian person)
  • 5. He was born in Scotland in 385 A.D. Free powerpoints at http://www.worldofteaching.com
  • 6. He went to Ireland to teach people about God .
  • 7. Some say he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. This is the legend of one of his miracles.
  • 8. Others say he used shamrocks to teach about the Trinity. Since a shamrock has 3 leaves: one of them was the father, the other was the son and the last one was the holy spirit.
  • 9. He died March 17th in 461 A.D. In his honour every 17th of March, Saint Patrick day is celebrated.
  • 10. <ul><li>WHAT IS A LEPRENCRAUN??? </li></ul>
  • 11. A very representative legendary creature is…THE LEPRENCHAUN <ul><li>A Leprenchaun is a solitary fairy creature whose main occupation is: Mending shoes and playing practical jokes to everyone. </li></ul>
  • 12. According to the legend, they are 3-feet-tall (a dwarf size or so) Leprechauns are unfriendly and possess a pot of gold.
  • 13. If you find a Leprechaun, you can trick him into showing you his gold.
  • 14. But if you don’t watch the leprechaun very carefully, he and the gold will disappear!
  • 15. <ul><li>HOW DO IRISH CELEBRATE SAINT PATRICK DAY? </li></ul>
  • 16. Irish dress up with fancy dresses, greet wigs and colourful hats.
  • 17. FIRE-SWALLOWERS AND JUGGLERS
  • 18. YOU CAN ALWAYS GO FOR A RIDE IN FUNFAIRS, SUCH AS THE BIG-WHEEL.
  • 19. OR ENJOY A MUSICAL PARADE ALL ALONG DUBLIN…
