  • We are R3M1X3D, a multi-disciplinary marketing and design firm, that focuses on developing graphic design and marketing strategies for print, broadcast, as well as interactive media.

  • The founders are Douglas Berger and Simon Jacobsohn.
  • Simon was born in Colorado.
  • Doug was born in Florida.
  • Simon moved to North Carolina when he was very young.
  • Doug stayed in Orlando.
  • Simon eventually ended up in Houston, where he went to art school and got his degree.
  • Doug traveled a little less for to Miami to his my BFA in Graphic Design.
  • Eventually, Simon ended up in Orlando.
    And, Doug came back.
  • Not long after they each moved to Orlando, they got jobs for the same agency.
  • In 2002, Simon and Doug tried to do some freelance gigs together. But, the timing wasn’t perfect.
  • However, it was in 2006. They began doing a great deal of work together the year before, which led to R3M1X3D incorporating.
  • Because it’s necessary to work with other people, whether it’s due to a need for more people or to be around inspiring talent, a decision was made that it was very important for us to make R3M1X3D a collective. Today, R3M1X3D is comprised of a tight-knit network of strategists, designers, photographers, illustrators, copy writers and other industry professionals.
  • At R3M1X3D, we primarily collaborate. We get together within the company and with our clients to create print, broadcast or interactive media that generates a desired response.
  • In 2009, things really began to gel. We hit our stride; Landed several large accounts; won awards for our printed and online deliverables and solidified our process.
  • Our process is truly where our name comes from. We begin with discovery. Pretty normal stuff. But, then this is where it’s divergent from traditional agencies. There is no singular owner or author of what comes from R3M1X3D. Before the client sees it, sketches and mechanicals are reworked by at least two individuals: mixing it. Then the client gets involved. The part of our process where internal collaboration takes place a second time is after receiving client feedback. We refer to this aspect of the process as remixing, hence our name. So, by the time the general public sees the work, it has been R3M1X3D.

  • This year, in just the few short weeks that have past, R3M1X3D has moved into a new space downtown, signed on three new clients, and has completed a large number of projects. But, these projects don’t always come easy.
  • Over the past 4+ years, we’ve had our ups and downs. Some stuff comes easy.
  • Crooked Bayou is a local, cajun-themed restaurant and bar.
  • We re-illustrated their logo. They loved it.
  • Then, we did photography and layout for this ad. They loved it!
  • We did more photography. Surprise. They loved it.
  • We did their website. Which they continue to love.
  • And, we made it work on smartphones. Who doesn’t love that?
  • And, we even made t-shirts with suggestive phrases even your mom would love.
  • Another client we find easy to please is Epcot Events.
  • First, we helped build their brand for the 14th Annual Event.
  • Then we presented rough web designs.
  • Some extra graphics, like desktops were created.
  • And, we finally ended up with a full-fledged website for the event.
  • Then, there are some clients who are a little more particular.

  • That one really wasn’t bad. That was pretty much par for the course. But, these artists were intriguing. Mostly because they are lead by a duo that is dynamically different on most accounts. The music was pretty much the only thing they made together where they completely agreed. We did what we do with all our clients. We did a discovery session, that was preceded by them doing a homework assignment we gave them. We had a teleconference that lasted about an hour and a half ... more or less. We thought we had what it took to nail it the first time out of the gate. We were wrong.

  • R3M1X3D clearly didn’t just end up here by accident. We have learned a lot of valuable things along the way, from art direction to account management, setting-up files to media buying, from press checks to quality assurance, and so on. Over the past 15 years, we have been fortunate to have been given some valuable opportunities, upon which we have found ways to capitalize. However, the greatest thing about our industry is how it is ever-changing. Production, trends and technology keep us on our toes. It feels good to know we still have a lot to learn, and always will.
