In1877 the War Office decided to get morewomen as nurses employed in military hospitalsbecause of her and to put Florence Nightingalein the face of official opposition. Her work hadbeen practiced in 1869 at the Royal VictoriaHospital, which became a significant Red Crosshospital.

Major achievements and awardsI think one of the big achievements for her musthave been becoming a nurse and getting moreladies to become nurses.Florence decided in 1907 to create acommemorative International NightingaleMedal to be awarded to ladies distinguished inthe nursing field.
