Do you usually see egg white cervical mucous, before or during
ovulation?
I had sex last night and had a LH surge on my Ovulation Prediction Kit this afternoon but did
not have sex tonight but plan on it tomorrow. We were going to try and have sex every other
night. But tonight I seen egg white cervical mucous. My question is when do you usually see
this type of mucous and could have still have a chance with having sex before my LH surge
before ovulation and before I actually seen the mucous?? TTC!

LH surge usually happens 24-48 hours before an egg is released, and EWCM can persist for
several days through the ovulation period. So, if you had sex yesterday and plan on having sex
tomorrow, then you can definitely still conceive.
But, if your partner does not have male fertility problems, there’s no reason you can’t have sex
every day. I do see the every other day quite a bit on TTC forums but was told by our doctor
that for men with good fertility, it’s ok to have sex every night during ovulation. When my
husband and I were ttc he had a sperm analysis, which came back good, so we had every other
day sex until I got the LH surge, then did every day sex for about 3-4 days. And now I’m
pregnant.

Ok, so I may be a little bit confused, so please help me out.
You get your LH surge before ovulation correct???
The reason I ask is because around the 9/10th I kept feeling this little cramp and achey feeling
around where my left ovary would be, and also felt it some in my back so I figured I was
ovulating. I started doing and OPK around the 1st to see when I would get my LH surge, and
nothing ever showed. However today the 12th I got my surge on my OPK. So I’m confused.
Can you ovulate and then get your surge? My CM is still a little liquidy (if that is even a word).

You shouldn’t drink or go to the bathroom 4 hours prior to taking the test. Liquids can dilute it
and not give you a accurate answer.

4. So I have been using an OPK to help determine when I ovulate. Well I haven’t gotten a
positive, but I think I am experiencing some ovulation cramps. Not sure though It kinda feels
like my period cramps..am I making any sense to anyone??? Someone Please help me…
do ovulation cramps happen before or after ovulation???
My guy doesn’t come home until the 18th….do you think I still have a chance??
i have a 29 day cycle im on day 13.. just for the record
my last period was on dec. 4

I didn’t get any cramps till after my ovulation date. I have been using an ovulation kit and an
ovulation calender and they both match up pretty well. I wouldn’t really rely on cramps to much
unless you are really in tune with your body. Just keep taking the test everyday, when it is time it
should show a positive. If you want go to www.mymonthlycycles.com and they can also help
you track your most fertile days and when you ovulate as well.

Had sex 18 hours before detecting LH surge – Will it be a boy or a
girl?
Just found out I’m pregnant with third. As I have two boys, I have been trying to follow the
Shettles method to get a girl. That is, to have sex 2-3 days before ovulation. (To get a boy, you
have sex the day before and the day of ovulation). I have been tracking my cycle using the
Clearblue Fertility Monitor and normally have 3 HIGH days, followed by 2 PEAK days. I had sex
on my second high day that night, and then the next day it had the third day of HIGH on the
monitor. However, I did an additional Ovulation Predictor test at 2.30 pm the day after I had
sex, and it showed it had detected the LH surge. Therefore, I had had sex about 18 hours
before detecting the LH surge, and then ovulation occurs normally 24-36 hrs later.
Just wondered what you thought if it would be a boy or girl? Please no answers about just being
grateful I’m pregnant. I am – I want a healthy baby above all else, but just wondered whether
it’s more likely to be a girl than a boy?
The reasoning behind having sex BEFORE ovulation for a girl, is because the male sperm
don’t live as long, so by the time you ovulate, they should have died off, leaving the female
sperm there to fertilise the egg. Male sperm swim faster but die quicker (hence doing it at
ovulation to get a boy) whereas girl sperm swim slower but live longer.

Sorry for the wacky answers, I don’t think these posters are familiar with the Shettles Method.
Anyway, based on the Shettles Method your chances sound pretty good for a girl this time.
Having sex 18 hours before your LH surge and then the surge itself means you are still 12-48
hours away from ovulation (with an average of 24 hours) means you gave those girl sperm
plenty of time to reach that eggie and girl sperm live longer so there would have been girl sperm
waiting for that egg by the time you ovulated–possibly 2-3 days later.
