Lh Surge And Ovulation Predictor

  1. 1. Lh Surge And Ovulation PredictorUnderstanding Luteinizing hormonehttp://lhhormone.orgHelen asks…Will ovulation predictor tests show a LH surge if the egg hasalready been fertilized?I’m due to start my period this upcoming week and I’ve taking ovulation tests since June, about12 days after the first day of my last period. I’ve taken my last test today and I’ve still haveno surge in LH. So will those tests show a surge in LH if the egg has already been fertilized?I just wanted to add that I’m curious that I haven’t seen a surge in LH since I started takingthem. I know it’s not a way to tell if I’m pregnant, since that’s not the answer I’m looking for.I’m just wondering why I have had no surge. I’m aware that to confirm a pregnancy, I need totake a pregnancy test^^ Just wanted to clarifyPregnancy Advisor’s answers:The LH surge is before ovulation. The ovulation test kits tell you when you are about to ovulate. The egg isn’t there yet so you can’t have a fertilized egg when you see the LH surge. 1/6
  2. 2. Sandra asks…Ovulation and LH Surge? If I have a 28 day cycle, I should technically ovulate on day 14. If this is the case when should Isee an LH surge when using an ovulation predictor kit? I am not sure if I am actuallyovulating or not – that’s why I am using an OPK – just to make sure an LH surge is takingplace. Thanks in advance.Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:The lh surge happens 24 to 36 hours before ovulation. Over 85% of women ovulate between 1– 4 am. Lh surges in the urine usually begin late am to early afternoon. Never use 1st morningurine and don’t test in the pm unless you’re also testing in the am. Lh surges beginning in thepm are very rare as is having a short lh surge (usually this is due to low egg reserve/poor eggquality and not seen in young women). The OPK detects the lh surge and charting your first morning temp (using a basal thermometer)will determine if you actually released an egg. Temp jumps up after the egg is ovulated andstays elevated until you your period or until you deliver a baby.Your highest fertility day is the day of the lh surge due to the cm being at it’s best fertility stateas well as the uterus. The second highest fertile days are the day after the lh surge and the day before the lh surge. 2/6
  3. 3. Donna asks…When did I ovulate according to my LH surge?I detected my LH surge with an ovulation predictor kit. I got a positive at 1am, 8am, noon anddinnertime on Sunday. Monday at noon it was gone. So, does that mean ovulation is taking place today (Monday)? Or…tomorrow? Or could it havebeen Sunday?Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:Try to use this ovulation calendar tool.n http://www.softorbits.com/awc/ to trace your cycle andfind the date of ovulation.Laura asks… 3/6
  4. 4. started the ovulation predictor kits yesterday on day 14 and still noLH surge. My cylcles are between 32-34?days. Is that normal, or should i have had a surge already?Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:If your cycles are 32-34 days, then subtract 14 from 32, that’s 18, which means you probablydon’t ovulate until approx day 18. Ovulation usually happens 14 days before you get yourperiod, not after. People commonly make this mistake. Just keep trying the predictor kit once aday, at the same time in the day. GOOD LUCK!!!Maria asks…Clearblue Easy ovulation predictor kits question?has anyone ever used the Clearblue Easy ovulation predictor kits and NOT gotten a positiveLH surge but then gotten pregnant? I’m using the kit because I just came off birth control andam not sure when I’ll ovulate. However, if I only test once a day (I’ve been doing it in themorning), is there a chance I’ll miss the LH surge (ie: I surge about 2 hours after I take the testand it dissipates before the next morning). Has anyone here gotten pregnant without seeing anLH surge on their ovulation predictor kit? 4/6
  5. 5. Pregnancy Advisor’s answers:I’ve always gotten a pos. LH from Clearblue Easy OV predictor kits, and I’ve used 3 of them.Don’t know how long it has been since you stopped taking BCP, but I’ve heard that your LHlevels can be off for at least 2 months. You can use OV calculators on-line to help you predictwhen you should be OV. The average is on day 14, but that’s not always the case.Good Luck!Sandy asks…Ovulation Spotting – have you ever experienced it?Hi,My husband and I have been TTC for months now, and we finally feel like this is the month. Iwas having some issues and was put on Provera to get my cycles back on track. This week iswhen I am supposed to ovulate. We bought an ovulation predictor kit and my LH surgewasn’t today, however when I was done taking the test and wiped, there was a small amount ofpinkish/brownish blood and mucus on the paper (sorry for the TMI haha). Is this an indicationthat I WILL ovulate? Since the ovulation predictor said that I haven’t yet had my LH surge, Iam assuming that this means that ovulation will occur soon? Obviously everyone is different, but can anyone tell me when they experienced this, how long after the spotting did your LHsurge/ovulation occur? 5/6
  6. 6. Thanks! Pregnancy Advisor’s answers: Actually, you have already ovulated. The small anount of pinkish/ brown blood is the blood that flows after the mature egg is released from the ovary. Brown simply implies that the ovulation has occured a day before. Blood gets brown if it is old. I have observed ovulation spotting once in 3 months or so. I remember seeing it last month. Before i saw it, there was this terrible mid-cycle head ache which is very common for me. I have read that this headache occurs due to the sudden drastic fall of estrogen level just before ovulation. Few hours after headache i had this ovulation spotting. Well, this month i got the head ache but no LH surge and no spotting. I am not sure if i ovulated this month All the best!! Baby dust to you!!
