  5. 5. Cuti-cuti Malaysia answers: Well, mt Kinabalu is about 2 hours by bus from Kota Kinabalu. If you’re planning to stay in KOta Kinabalu for a day or two before going to the mountains, you can stay at NOrth Borneo Cabin (one of the cheapest backpackers hostel- MYR20/night) in KK (thats what the locals call KOta KInabalu). Anyways, there are other budget hotels that you can stay for about MYR60/night-try High Street Inn). The taxi ride from the airport to the city centre will be around MYR15 and tell the driver to drop you at any of the place you want to stay. There are many cheap food around. Just walk around , KK is not big and you won’t get lost. You can either reserve a place to stay at the mountain now (http://www.suterasanctuarylodges.com.my/ ) or do it later when you get to KK. If you are planning to stay overnight at the park and climb the next day, you will have to reserve a place at the Kinabalu Park and then another place when you’re climbing which is at Laban Rata. Like butterfly said, you can ake the bus to the mountain but instead of taking the bus from Inanam bus station, you can get one from the city centre. It is located at Padang Merdeka. There are mini buses (MYR15/person), 4WDs(MYR15/person) and taxis(MYR20/person). Send me an email if you need more info. Powered by Yahoo!
