1. Hernando de Soto<br /> Na Young<br />Part 1. Childhood<br />0149860<br /> Hernando De Soto was born in Extremadura region of western Spain around 1500 but the exact date is uncertain. Also, He probably was born in the town of <br />Jerez de los Caballeros. When he was teen-ager, he joined in expeditions and he enslave Indians and to search for wealth. It was well known for other people. And at the age of 14, he went on his first voyage to the Indies. <br /> When he was young, his parents wanted him to become a lower. But he made his position clear that he wanted to be an explorer and went to Sevilla instead of university. He already was into traveling outside of country. <br />Part 2. Getting Ready<br />034290 Hernando de Soto wanted to go West Indies. So he tried to let him know for raising an army. Therefore, he joined an expedition of Pedrarias who will go to West Indies. Pedrarias fostered him to be an excellent explorer. When Pederarias died, he tried to new work. He joined an expedition led by Francisco Pizarro who was another Spanish explorer. And they began to conquer the Peru with a small army.<br />Part 3. The Journey <br /> When he went to Peru, he prepared 10 ships and more then 160men. He gathered lots of men in ships on every journey. Especially, when he set out from Cuba with about 600 men, plus horses, pigs and equipment. Especially, when he went to West Indies with Pedrarias. In second travel, he went to Cajamarca with Pizarro and prepared 10 ships, 100 men, pigs, and horses. He found a lot of gold, silver, and jewels. But when he came back to his home, he had stolen almost of his gold and jewels. <br /> <br />Part 4. The Discovery<br />050165 Above-mentioned, his first journey was Indies since he was 14 years old. 10 years after, he went to Nicaragua, South America. In 1531, he sailed from the port of Panama with Francisco. One year after, he and Pizarro reach Cajamarca and capture Atahuallpa who was an emperor of the Incas. There was a huge Inca army. They killed thousands of Incas and they stole fabulous treasure. Even though he has retired a wealthy man after collecting so much treasure during the Inca conquest, he decided to continue exploring. After that, in 1539 he arrived on the west coast of Florida with 1000 soldiers and spent four years exploring the area because of they searching for gold and silver. The best achievement was discovering Mississippi River. He discovered the Mississippi River in 1541 and he crossed it to explore Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. <br />Part 5. Interesting Facts <br />099695 <br /> I wondered about that he was a brutal person. He killed too many Indian and natives during expedition. He had stolen their amount of pearl and gold. Also he treated people with contempt. He was blinded by greed. So, he spent four years to search gold. It looks like a silly person.
