  4. 4. lesson objectives:<br />Learn the importance of examining your heart before and after God answers your prayers.<br />Recognize the LORD’S sovereignty & trust-worthiness over your circumstances and conditions.<br />Declare prophetically the mighty works of the Lord by faith.<br />Learn to be persistent in prayer in spite of external distractions.<br />

Summarize background<br />Period of the Judges<br />Nation of Israel was about to experience transition in government and spiritually.<br />The people were spiritually depleted; the priests were corrupt <br />IT WAS TIME FOR CHANGE!<br />One household, one woman (Hannah) would be the conduit to usher in change in an entire nation.<br />

Prayer principle #1<br />Pray in faith focused on God’s Sovereignty & Faithfulness.<br />Don’t allow your emotions (bitterness & sorrowfulness) caused by your situation to overrule…thus making you pray out of bitterness and anger rather than faith— believing in the faithfulness of God to answer your prayer. [Ref. Mark 11:24]<br />
  10. 10. Call to action<br />Prayer:<br />Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege and power of prayer. We come to you now in faith believing that you hear our petitions and you have a set time to answer us. Help us to guard our heart so that our prayers are not hindered by bitterness and anger that we give up and stop believing. We vow to give you praise, honor and glory always. We will be persistent in prayer as we pour out our soul to you in confidence. In Jesus’ name we pray with thanksgiving. Amen.<br />
