  • 3. What is the role of the supporting characters? Provide extra comedic support Help create situations Add diversity with an episode focusing on them Build relationships with the main character Extra info – sometimes the supporting character can gain so much popularity that they have their own spin off e.g. Frasier from cheers.
  • 4. Who are the transient characters can someone tell me what do I mean by these words? Celebrities In and out Dimension Publicity Extra info - transient characters have been known to have more airtime and steal the limelight from the main characters as they become the focus for that episode.
  • 5. Theme tune <ul><li>Listen to these three examples of theme tunes and think about what links them together. </li></ul>Short and catchy Verse/chorus structure Sung Normally up tempo links with the opening credits Lyrics describes the narrative theme

Opening credits <ul><li>Watch this opening clip and answer the comment on the following; </li></ul><ul><li>The use of mise en scene </li></ul><ul><li>The relationship of the characters, how are they introduced? </li></ul><ul><li>The title sequence </li></ul><ul><li>Comic devises </li></ul><ul><li>The theme song </li></ul><ul><li>Representation </li></ul>

Task now create the opening and describe how your theme tune would go. <ul><li>Think about </li></ul><ul><li>Style </li></ul><ul><li>Audience </li></ul><ul><li>Narrative </li></ul><ul><li>Characters </li></ul><ul><li>Relationships </li></ul><ul><li>Genre and speed of music, plus the link between the two </li></ul><ul><li>Title </li></ul>
