Provide extra comedic support Help create situations Add diversity with an episode focusing on them Build relationships with the main character Extra info – sometimes the supporting character can gain so much popularity that they have their own spin off e.g. Frasier from cheers.
  • 4. Who are the transient characters can someone tell me what do I mean by these words? Celebrities In and out Dimension Publicity Extra info - transient characters have been known to have more airtime and steal the limelight from the main characters as they become the focus for that episode.
  • 5. Theme tune
    • Listen to these three examples of theme tunes and think about what links them together.
    Short and catchy Verse/chorus structure Sung Normally up tempo links with the opening credits Lyrics describes the narrative theme

    • Watch this opening clip and answer the comment on the following;
    • The use of mise en scene
    • The relationship of the characters, how are they introduced?
    • The title sequence
    • Comic devises
    • The theme song
    • Representation
  • 7. Task now create the opening and describe how your theme tune would go.
